I didn't answer them because you're starting to embarrass yourself now with your rant, perhaps influenced by Rafa? I see similarities.

You want to talk about the past? Fair enough, as that's where Liverpool's success is.

And you speak as if United are the only team who borrowed to pay for players. But you're taking delusion to new levels if you think United will ever have to sell the top players to get by. There will always be someone wanting to invest in the world's biggest club.

I love your last comment. No, there aren't any Liverpool supporters that 'joined up' during their 70s and 80s heyday are there?

Martinez is loyal to us but Celtic are closer to European football than Swansea :(

I'm glad you pointed that out. A lot of Liverpool fans in their late 20s/early30s I know started following/supporting them after the team's dominance of the 80s. They are very quick to bandy the term glory hunters when talking about Man U fans, even calling Chelsea fans glory hunters too, but I'd be confident on putting a bet on them supporting another club if Liverpool weren't so good in the 80s.

Every team has glory hunters, the reason scousers point it out with United fans is their glory hunters were long established before United took over in the 90s.

Around 2001, Arsenal were suddenly the team to follow. When Roman came along suddenly Chelsea fans were everywhere.

Each of the top 4 has glory hunters and claiming one has any more than the other is unsubstanciated rubbish.

I think it's clear United have a lot more though, I live near London and of the people I know the United to Arsenal fan ratio is about equal. Hardly any Liverpool Supporters though, only know of two and one of them is from Liverpool.

I doubt there are legions of Arsenal fans up north to the extent that United fans exist everywhere.

It's only clear as you live where you do - in South Wales there are leigons of 30 and 40 something Liverpool supporters. A lot to do with Ian Rush as well. Funny how they didn't switch alliegence to Juventus when he went there.

Exactly, they always go for the champs, in the '80's United had no fans at my school yet Liverpool had hundreds...

Well fair enough I do only have anecdotal evidence to support it, I live around my own age group though which would be too young to be around during the Liverpool years and were around during the United treble win. My year at school contained an enoumous amount of United supporters, I mean they formed a easy majority. Followed by West Ham supports and Spurs supporters (many Spurs supporters miffed that their friends were suddenly 'United supporters') and a few Arsenal fans.

Arsenal and Chelsea have never had a massive peroid of dominance though so I imagine there are less glory hunters (although there are still a lot, see my story about how difficult it became to get tickets for Highbury after the first double win!).

This is not a negative reflection on United or their geniune fans though.

although I don't stop them and ask when I drive up to OT from London you see loads of Liverpool fans etc going up North too.

Also a lot of Arsenal , Chelsea fans don't live anywhere near the ground but live in Kent, Hertfordshire etc anyway, loads of Chelsea fans live in Mitcham but none of them support Tooting and Mithcam, or Fulham they go for the bigger clubs instead

Course they don't but then you don't find many football fans full stop around Kensington and Westminster...

If it was a Liverpool vs Barcelona final...who do you think the United fans would support?

Football is a game of double standards.

If it was an international final, and England were playing but I was rooting for whoever they were against, I'd get "you're just bitter, why can't you be happy that a home nation might win a trophy" whereas if it's Man United v Barca (or whoever) all the Scousers suddenly are Spanish. It's the same for rugby too.

Aye, I just don't see why people moan about the scousers doing it, yet they would do the same thing if the situation was reversed.

In a way, I wanted both teams to win. United because they're English, and I'd rather at least an English team win. But also Barcelona, because I like them, and United (and supporters) often annoy me. :P

Irrespective of who l would support, but if Cheslea were playing Man Utd, l would only watch the game, after finding out who the ref was, if it was a weak one, then it would be a Utd win, if it was a tough one l would go for Chelsea.

And personnally, l cannot stand either of them, both clubs think they run football, Chelsea with that Russian geezer, who ruins football with mad transfer fee's and Man Utd with Fergie, who thinks he runs the PL.

I suggest you open your deluded eyes and you will see that I did quote the teams form after the so called " rant "

For years United were mediocre, I notice Russ never answered the questions I put to him.

You talk about Liverpool fans supporting Barcelona, ffs if Liverpool had been beaten in the final the Glory Hunting United Supporters would have been rubbing their prawn sandwich eating hands in Glee, so do not give me that crap!

Just to finish, where does buying your so called class players put your bank balance? ffs Rooney vs Torres? When the debt collectors call in the loans and all uniteds top earners have to be sold to fund the club the real supporters will emerge, not your supporters who decided in 1992 that Football had arrived.

When i said directly after , i meant directly after , not all the remaining fixtures :erm:. DIRECTLY after Rafa's 'rant' Liverpoo drew games with Stoke (lol) , Everton (twice but one in the FA cup before you got knocked out by them) , and Wigan. Had rafa not got too carried away with previous results (being 7 points clear of United at the time although they did have 2 games in hand) by the time you hit February you were two points behind united and they still had a game in hand , so in less than a month it was game over for Liverpool.
