Re: Football : Season 08/09
I didn't answer them because you're starting to embarrass yourself now with your rant, perhaps influenced by Rafa? I see similarities.
You want to talk about the past? Fair enough, as that's where Liverpool's success is. And you speak as if United are the only team who borrowed to pay for players. But you're taking delusion to new levels if you think United will ever have to sell the top players to get by. There will always be someone wanting to invest in the world's biggest club. I love your last comment. No, there aren't any Liverpool supporters that 'joined up' during their 70s and 80s heyday are there? ---------- Post added at 12:16 ---------- Previous post was at 10:46 ---------- This is worrying.... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...ty/8076867.stm Martinez is loyal to us but Celtic are closer to European football than Swansea :( |

Every team has glory hunters, the reason scousers point it out with United fans is their glory hunters were long established before United took over in the 90s.
Around 2001, Arsenal were suddenly the team to follow. When Roman came along suddenly Chelsea fans were everywhere. Each of the top 4 has glory hunters and claiming one has any more than the other is unsubstanciated rubbish. |

I doubt there are legions of Arsenal fans up north to the extent that United fans exist everywhere. |

Arsenal and Chelsea have never had a massive peroid of dominance though so I imagine there are less glory hunters (although there are still a lot, see my story about how difficult it became to get tickets for Highbury after the first double win!). This is not a negative reflection on United or their geniune fans though. |
Re: Football : Season 08/09
although I don't stop them and ask when I drive up to OT from London you see loads of Liverpool fans etc going up North too.
Also a lot of Arsenal , Chelsea fans don't live anywhere near the ground but live in Kent, Hertfordshire etc anyway, loads of Chelsea fans live in Mitcham but none of them support Tooting and Mithcam, or Fulham they go for the bigger clubs instead |

If it was an international final, and England were playing but I was rooting for whoever they were against, I'd get "you're just bitter, why can't you be happy that a home nation might win a trophy" whereas if it's Man United v Barca (or whoever) all the Scousers suddenly are Spanish. It's the same for rugby too. |

In a way, I wanted both teams to win. United because they're English, and I'd rather at least an English team win. But also Barcelona, because I like them, and United (and supporters) often annoy me. :P |
Re: Football : Season 08/09
Irrespective of who l would support, but if Cheslea were playing Man Utd, l would only watch the game, after finding out who the ref was, if it was a weak one, then it would be a Utd win, if it was a tough one l would go for Chelsea.
And personnally, l cannot stand either of them, both clubs think they run football, Chelsea with that Russian geezer, who ruins football with mad transfer fee's and Man Utd with Fergie, who thinks he runs the PL. |
