I know on Sky the EPG entry was meant to reflect the licence holders name - so would be HGTV.

It used to be called that. From Wikipedia:

I agree 100%. There is a reason why many other channels and broadcasters don't go beyond three initials.

We were told 2020. Not 1 January 2020.

Though they didn't specifically say so, my impression was that VM would get the UHD channels from Sky from launch.

They have already launched on Sky, haven't they? This is Virgin playing catch-up.

:D Let's hope that they are quicker off the mark with the new streaming services!

Apple+ launches on 1 November. Only £4.99 pm and free for the first year for anyone buying a new i-phone, i-Pad, i-Pod touch, Mac or Apple TV. I need a new i-Phone....!

No. All Sky's UHD content is currently streaming, not broadcast. If there's a UHD version of a particular show a red button prompt takes you to it. Other than that it's boxsets.

Is there an Ultra HD channel?
No, but there are Ultra HD tabs in Sky Cinema, Sports, Sky Box Sets and Catch Up TV
Many of the 3rd party HD channels on Sky satellite transponder space that have been closing over the last year, it could be simply Sky want their space back to launch broadcast UHD.

Sky's UHD content is broadcast via satellite for live material and is downloaded for viewing for recorded content. There is no UHD streaming on Sky.

Fair enough. I clearly misunderstood something I read.

There's no Sky branded UHD channels yet then, the customer presses red to switch to a hidden (from EPG) stream.

I wouldn't imagine there being a UHD channel for a while , Sky may just gradually increase the amount of content it shows in UHD bit by bit for instance quite a lot of the EFL games are being shown in UHD this season accessable by the red button.
