Shame that it does seem like a big mistake!

No!

That's insane. I know Eastenders always starts early so every episode I record will miss the beginning. They have got to fix that. No comments about Eastenders please.

Why would that be happen? Just set padding on your series link.

Yeah and it almost all stuff that I would watch, or rather have seen before, but least now instead of watching endless repeats of Two and Half Men when nothing else is one I can watch ones that were recorded earlier.

Exact same story for me, but maybe a touch earlier than prayforsnow? ;)

Phoned at 17:40 today whilst I walked home from work and they took my order with no problems (after 30secs on hold while they checked if they could take a Tivo order yet). On the phone for 8 mins, then they called me 10mins later to give me an install date (May 4th) and take my £199.95 by Visa. That took another 4mins. Less than 25min in total. :D

Just as prayforsnow said:
£199.95 charge for Tivo (which had to be payed up front)
No installation fee.
18 month contract.
Only other requirement for Tivo was that I had to take TV XL (which I was doing anyway).

Hurrah!

I think I might call back to make sure the installers aren't going to have any issues, though. My house is on a terrace that is at right angles to the street and although I can definitely see that my neighbour (who is nearer the street, and the main CATV access/inspection hatch and green box) has had cable installed at some point, our house doesn't seem to have. There aren't any of the little access hatches, either.

How do they normally run the cable to the house itself?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Installed today, about 1hr and 20 mins all in.
Chap had to install a booster for the tivo signal, seems to be working fine.
The box feels VERY alien to control just now, but i think that will come with time.
It actually feels overwhelming the sheer amount of things it can do, and not really knowing where to start.

Couple of Q's...

1 = Pressing ok brings up the mini guide, and say i ve been watching bbc news for 30 mins, i can rewind that the full 30 mins, how do you go about rewinding the content on the other 2 tuners, or do they have to be recording something to do this?

2 = If for talking sake i set a series link for friends, whats the best option to set, rec new&reruns, new only or everything?

3 = Is there a way to make it JUST rec friends on E4, instead of the EVERY channel friends is on, ie CH4 in the mornings, E4, E4+1 ETC ETC?

Sorry for all the Q's guys, but thanks in advance for the help n tips!

Cheers herby.

4th May install date

:D

Very very jealous! I registered on day 1, 1st December, and got given install date of 12th May!!! First to get TiVo my arse, lol. I even called a few days later to see if they had anything earlier (heard loads of people had called and got earlier dates) and they had nothing.

***sighs***

Info, scroll down to the bottom option, and it'll show the other 2 tuners there.

Probably "new&reruns". "New only" wouldn't record anything unless they make a new series of Friends. "Everything" would record lots of duplicates.

A Series Link only records on the channel you set it on. A WishList records on all channels.,

VM: "Hi Sir, would you like to keep your existing V+ HD box for no extra charge?"
Me: "Erm.......OK!"

:)

Can you clarify a few things:
1) do you have TiVo installed yet, or waiting for install?
2) are/were you on XL and L packages only as your profile suggests (i.e. not VIP)
3) did you just have the one V+HD box?
4) have you ever had multi-room?

Seems weird that mid range package users are being offered upgrade to free multi-room (i.e. TiVo plus V+HD)

Highlight one, then press OK. That will become your current tuner.
