But then again that was telewest and not VM, long before indian call centres and when you phoned up people either knew what you were talking about or knew who to ask.

Ah... those were the days:)

For the discussion I've seen about slowness based on those youtube videos doing the rounds, I've also seen some of those lucky enough to be installed say how so much better it is than their V+ box, so all horses for courses really.

I think those initial videos were from Big Dirk who now says his box is lightening fast. Big Dirk posted those videos in good faith to show us people who haven't got tivo how his box was performing. Unfortunately they were seized on by people who said that this proved all tivo boxes were slow.

correct they were my words, I was personally quite panicked in the first couple of days of ownership at the slow speed of the interface, but the difference now is like night and day. It's really quick now, just as quick as the S1 I know and love.

That quote on my blog was a verbatim quote from Virgin Media.

Remember Stephen isn't Virgin Media residential but works for the business unit so isn't going to have the full picture.

Exactly, there will always be people ready to pee on this box and they jumped on this glitch in performance that Big Dirk had.

As above he has now found the box to be much quicker and more responsive.

The joys of social networks.

I would get one if the place we're moving to at the end of March doesn't have Sky available though, seems a useful bit of kit.

Who are you to dictate what people should or shouldn't enthuse and get excited about? The 'Fun Police' maybe?

I don't think it's the enthusiasm that's the issue, more probably the constant bitching and moaning.....;)

Well, before VM released that statment on the sofa and community forums explaining the way TIVO was being allocated (which was only this week), there was some justification for that.

I would disagree, but that is the joy of the intraweebs - total strangers can disagree without any toys/prams disengagement scenarios occurring.
