Re: TV360
Hi All.
I have just got this email off VM. Email Heading.. Your TV box needs an upgrade. Here is the contents of the email, Hello Mike, Just a heads up that the Virgin TV box you currently have is using old software, which means you aren’t getting the most out of your services. The good news is, we can upgrade you to a new Virgin TV 360 box at no extra cost. Choose how you upgrade Sign in to My Virgin Media using the button below and request an upgrade. We’ll send you some bits and bobs in the post and guide you through the setup – no need to book an engineer visit. or Head to the ‘Apps and Games’ section on your telly box, select ‘Upgrade now’, then follow the steps on the screen. After that, we’ll send you everything you need in the post. It may take up to 7 days to process your order after you request the upgrade. What I want to know is... Can I just stay with the V6 set top box or will they force me to upgrade ? Thank you for any help. Mike. |

There have been many similar reports on the VM community forum, the conversion is voluntary. |
Re: TV360
They are trying to manipulate people into thinking that changing over is an inevitable process that you have to do.
As far as i'm aware V6 users can still keep their (IMO superior) box and don't have to change over. |
Re: TV360
Thank you so much Richard, I can now relax. :) I will stay with my V6.

Re: TV360
I've had the email twice this year so far, first time was mid April and again last week.
I was recently affected by an issue where my IP address was routing to Stockton, California (it affected a lot of people in the Teesside area) and one useless person I spoke to at customer services was trying to convince me that upgrading my TV box would fix the routing issue. |
Re: TV360
Hi, That's where I am, well just outside Saltburn.

Re: TV360
An update has been made to the 360 software. Instead of search results being displayed in written lists, they are now displayed on tiles, which is a much better experience for users.

Its certainly not "a much better experience for users". |

Re: TV360
People sometimes confuse 'new' with 'improved' - they are not synonyms...

"Much better" is just an opinion, not an actual fact. Not everyone finds tiles "much better visually", I find them dreadful. They also tend to take up more space, so you get less results per page. "some people just don't like change" - well if they consider it a bad change, then of course they dont. |

However a lot of customers fall for it. Buyers regret. VM happily tell them in retrospect there's no way back, and it was voluntary. (no mention of this in their 'your box needs an upgrade' communications). |
Re: TV360
Its all personal taste and a lot of people dont like change. I find the 360 software to be superior in every way
