No, I know what you mean but it is definitely a lot slower since the update. Switching on from standby, going to MyShows and pressing play (as soon as possible) on a recording probably takes about 90 seconds. The green led flashes straight away but Tivo is much less responsive.

Good god!!!

It is very disappointing to hear that the Tivo is to get even slower! Is this progress?

Same for me, press play on my shows and it takes about 50 seconds for the show to play. Pages still load faster though

Maybe this is a deliberate ploy by them to muck up the old TiVo so that people will take the new one when released........:erm:

mmm, Is Peterborough in the trial area?

Ive read some comments about Spotify, I don't actually use it, but have noticed it's not in the Apps folder, so does that mean I have had some/all of the latest update. I do see the new Tivo logo and have series link+ available.

Software version is: 20.5.7.RC20-VMC-2-COO

Spotify was removed last week for me, and The Weather Channel app.
Maybe 2 more, CNBC and one I cant remember.

Losing Spotify was the last nail in the coffin for Tivo for me. My 3 Tivos got switched off today.
Freeview and streaming is my future TV.

Yes, you were first to get it

Re: Major TiVo update started about 3:20am.

Just been trying to figure out why some of my favorite programs have not recorded the last few days. Some of my series links have been deleted in the update!!!! I'm missing about 20. I initially thought it was because of multiple channel links being converted to ALL Channels but this is not the case, after taking this into account I am still missing about 20!!! Also the order has been totally messed up, with big chunks moved to different places. Fortunately I take regular backups of wishlists/series links and recordings, so I can see exactly what is missing.

Also if you have a series link for a program on one channel and you add a series link for the same program on another channel it just deletes the existing series link!!!!!!! How pathetic is that. No warning, no automatically converted to All channels, it just deletes the original one.

Honestly Virgin Media this is not really the way to run a professional service, is it. I knew it would be bad based on early trial feedback but didn't think it would be as amateurish as this.

The new update just looks very badly bodged with channel icons missing off the bottom of the screen and the gold text and block graphic icons look like something out of the 1980's.

Freeview and streaming is my future TV.

That's pretty much becoming the consensus view.

Freeview is not enough choice, but you add Netflix and Amazon and possibly even Now TV (if you can get those discounted coupons off ebay) and that's the way to go.

Watching tv should be an enjoyable and easy experience. The history of cable tv in this country and elsewhere has made that experience as painful and cumbersome as possible.

Cable tv has had its day.

Well that's a bold statement and also a load of nonsense. To be a consensus view, there would have to be a majority of Tivo users ending their contracts and moving away from Virgin, and there is absolutely no evidence of this..and particularly just because a third party app hasn't been upgraded to be used with the TiVo software.

Just because there have been a handful of discerning voices on a forum with a few thousand active users, doesn't make it a consensus. It's worth noting that those that are 'happy' with something, tend not to shout it out, so no matter what the subject matter, negatives will generally appear to be the majority view, when they are not.

Tivo works for me. I'm happy with it, yes, even with some of the annoyances voice by some. Losing a 3rd party app, is not one of them.

..... the declining number of people taking cable tv subscriptions, according to Liberty's own figures, would suggest its not a load of nonsense.

Declining numbers taking a subscription doesn't mean folk are cancelling, it's a decline in numbers taking out new subs and even if there is small % of the customer base that are cancelling, it still doesn't mean there is a 'consensus', and customers cancelling subs could be for any number of reasons and not just because they are unhappy with a Tivo box!! Until Virgin lose over 50%, of the customer base in a short time period, it will never be a consensus

I'm guessing that I've had the update. My tivo now seems to take a day and an age to do anything. (Birkenhead, wirral). Does anyone know if this is going to get sorted? As I'm out of contract and can not put up with this foe a service.

Hmmmm that's quite a statement and not one you could back up one suspects.
