I give up, mate. I really do. For something closer to the truth, see martyH's posts. As I originally said, staff piled in at a moment's notice to produce the first new paper. It was on a day they were supposed to be off, so plans were cancelled, arrangements trashed, and all those who could practically come in made themselves available. I'm not saying plans for the paper weren't made in advance - it's a reasonable assumption that they were. But when the starting gun was fired it came as a genuine surprise to most, if not all, and staff were required instantly to rally round, which they did. It really shouldn't be that hard to understand, Peter, but you're making extremely heavy weather of it. Anyway, no point falling out - life's too short! :)

OK I believe you because no newspaper owned by Rupert Murdoch has ever told lies or hacked into voicemail belonging to a dead child giving the family false hope, so by virtue of those facts I also believe that the Sunday **** was put together at a moments notice purely on a whim and a wing and a prayer, also all that advertising space was never there because no one knew it existed.

advertising space can be bought and sold at a moments notice ,a few phone calls/emails to existing advertisers and they will be falling over themselves to fill the pages with their adverts ,especially a paper as popular as the sun

Its a Tory paper, and l hate anything associated with the Tories.

So you hate the Reform Act of 1867, which gave the vote to the urban male working class, Winston Churchill, and the VM broadband you use, as this was brought about by the privatisation of BT and allowing competition into the market....;)

If you also want to believe it was also a miracle on fleet street feel free to believe the hype.

Peter, if you think the volume of advertising sales calls required to fill a Sunday paper could have begun at any time significantly in advance of the launch date being announced, and gone both unnoticed and unreported by NI's competitors (some of whom hate that organisation even more than you, which has got to be saying something), then you really are living in a fantasy.

Not good, Jordan the coloumist, paying tribute to Marie Colvin, a woman she could identify with (to be fair I think that was a typo, I think she meant to say she could identify her as a woman), other highlights included a Bishop preaching forgiveness, new starts and thanking God (Rupert) for seven days of The Sun.

Glad a didn't pay for it but will begrudge spending a quid on it when it's my turn, even the football coverage didn't do much for me and what a great first front page, Amanda Holden's baby, hardly a current news story, had they left it much longer the baby would've been walking.

Well did you expect any better when they couldn't fill it with the usual intrusive scandals??

For a much hyped first edition frankly I did, must cost a fortune to produce as well with all those guest columnists...

No anyone thinking that the planning was only started a week before printing is living in a fantasy.

.

Please tell me you don't mean Jordan, aka the model. They cannot have thought that Jordan, the model, is the correct person to pay tribute to a war correspondent. Are you sure you don't mean a fellow war reporter who is based in Jordan?

This point has been well and truly answered in this thread. And they say Sun readers are thick!
