If you mean getting the whole network to exactly the same standard and running the same software before going ahead with any changes or enhancements I think you'd be waiting quite a while.

I applaud NTL advancing forward with the VOD stuff but I say that they should get their product right before doing so.

Havn't got it as yet, however most reports I've heard have all been positive. I was suggesting giving up on a product that is never going to be perfect and restarting from a more stable point. It's rarely I would suggest such a course of action, but I think in this case it's worth it.

Feel free to list them as I'm curious.

It won't make the slightest bit of difference to you anyway. The only VoD which has been rolled out so far is in a Langley area, which previously had different software and therefore different bugs to the Bromley software you've got.

Six months? Which hat did you pick that figure out of?

The new software is necessary for VOD, but not vice versa. I think Bromley will certainly have new software within 6 months (N.B. this doesn't come from any sort of insider information, just my personal feeling). However I don't think many areas will have VOD in 6 months time. NTL weren't kidding with their 2 year rollout plan. It's going to take a while to do.

Not impressed with VOD. The technology might be clever but the content is overpriced and limited (although this may be resolved over time as more areas come online).
Hopefully pick of the week will soon extend beyond BBC programming.

NTL are great arn't they. They just love to announce things they can't put a date on anyone getting in the forseeable future.
I wonder how many will be manipulated to stay with them through the chance they might get this extra service "soon"!
I am guessing the reality of the rollout is well over 2 years, as I don't believe nobody knows what is planned.

I don't think it's been launched anywhere else yet, hence why you don't have it.

Re: [Merged] VOD

1) the new code has started downloading to boxes in Cardiff/Swansea - this contains the necessary software to choose and run VOD.
2) this isn't the same as having all the equipment in and tested and the service ready to launch - apart from anything else not all boxes are updated yet.

Of course, having the code means that VOD is nearer than it was a couple of days ago, but that's Time for you.
