Checked my speed five minutes ago and I am now on 4340 kbps / 531,9 k bytes/sec. I hope I am not junping the gun by presuming that Watford has now been upgraded.

---------- Post added at 09:52 ---------- Previous post was at 09:39 ----------

And ... Watford isn't listed on the current 'Service Schedule' - dated 15.06 06 - so it would seem that upgrading is being done separately [?].

There's nothing illegal about it at all. *sigh*

The quote for service is UP TO 4meg - and 2 meg certainly comes into UPTO 4meg. WTF is it about people having to go to 'legalities' over something they know nothing about? The way the upgrades are happening, it's not possible to code the billing system with tariffs for some with 2meg, and other with 4meg.

If NTL said they'd give you a free upgrade in August and it happened now, you'd all be happy. They aren't even out of their time bracket and people are moaning.

Got 4Mb here in DA8. Was on 2Mb but came here and read everyone was on 4Mb so I've just rebooted the STB. Now I'm on 4Mb.

Yeahhhhh!

Just rebooted a 120 in Notts, best so far is ...

1st 512K took 1437 ms = 356.3 KB/sec, approx 2936 Kbps, 2.87 Mbps
2nd 512K took 1469 ms = 348.5 KB/sec, approx 2872 Kbps, 2.8 Mbps
3rd 512K took 1469 ms = 348.5 KB/sec, approx 2872 Kbps, 2.8 Mbps
4th 512K took 1469 ms = 348.5 KB/sec, approx 2872 Kbps, 2.8 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 2888 Kbps, 2.82 Mbps

Guess it may take a while to settle down :)

Living in bedfordshire...
Was upgraded from 1meg to the 4meg tier yesterday when calling NTL.
Ever since the upgrade, my internet has slowed down to a snails pace most of the time.
Wed, 21 Jun 2006 14:07:52 GMT
1st 128K took 2172 ms = 60346 Bytes/sec = approx 502 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 2344 ms = 55918 Bytes/sec = approx 465 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 1296 ms = 101136 Bytes/sec = approx 841 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 922 ms = 142161 Bytes/sec = approx 1183 kbits/sec
Pathetic really, averaging around 512k to 1mb access, ocasionally giving 2meg speeds.

Yeah, but I'm going home at 5, so I'll take over the "evening shift" if you like LOL!

Quite surprised, has been a good hour or so since anyone's said "it's a free upgrade, stop moaning", or "get back on topic" ;)

Probably down to your exceptions.

add the ip to IE's exceptions list and see if that works ;)

Keep checking the maintenance logs for upgrades. We had about a week's work done before the new speed arrived.

youve had it for a full week, is that an STB?, lots of mates around here wythenshawe's BH,NG,WHP,PH etc are on NTL250's and havent had the upgrade yet, theres a possibility it may be booked for tomorrow looking at the latest posting
"

Network upgrades will result in a loss of service in Seven kings, Folkstone, Baguley, Hemel Hempstead, Lichfield, Northampton, Leicester, Dunstable, Andover, Shettleston, Eastwood, Action, Peterborough, Swindon and the surrounding areas."
but that could just as well be normal non CM config work.

if your on a wythenshawe STB, it still seems odd that after a full week the wythenshawe NTL CM's havent also had their config's updated, still 1 major and 2 minor days left though so perhaps tomorrow.

Tried a reboot today and no luck. Yet I keep finding my modem has disconnected and needs a reboot anyway. It always gets me hoping it's been done. 2 meg is such a crawl, especially the upload speed.

On the Baguely server myself but with SACM. Bit much really, NTL must make more money off me than those with STB yet we are left behind ;)

The way the upgrades are happening, it's not possible to code the billing system with tariffs for some with 2meg, and other with 4meg.

so the billing isnt tied in with the tier they on then?

I would question the legality of selling a upto 4meg service that never reached 4meg but since it looks like ntl may be on track to get everyone upgraded within the month it isnt going to be an issue anyway. :)

Just sorted my neighbours SACM (120) and all is fine.

Of course I get 10Mb/s for less than next door pays for 4Mb/s - and it is super-fine :) And NO, it's not a dodgey modem, just asked the nice CS people for a good deal :)

Still nothing here in Worthing :o:

Edit: Think I've got the speed upgrade now, the speed test keeps changing its mind but just tried a download off a UK server and got consistent 450kb/s from it so that would suggest I've been upgraded.

1st 512K took 1110 ms = 461.3 KB/sec, approx 3801 Kbps, 3.71 Mbps
2nd 512K took 1093 ms = 468.4 KB/sec, approx 3860 Kbps, 3.77 Mbps
3rd 512K took 1078 ms = 475 KB/sec, approx 3914 Kbps, 3.82 Mbps
4th 512K took 1063 ms = 481.7 KB/sec, approx 3969 Kbps, 3.88 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 3886 Kbps, 3.8 Mbps

Had to reboot STB and do a release/renew of WAN IP on router to get upgrade.

Just rebooting the modem is not enough? Do we have to release/renew our IP ? (Even actually it doesn't renew... ;) )

Try Releasing/Renewing IP for your network adapter/router it may work, even tho your IP doesn't (Usually) change

If your download was running while you did that test then that would explain why it was all over the place. ^_^

And horay for Grimsby being upgraded! (as someone else already said earlier)
