This was a foregone conclusion a month ago, merely tabloids linking him elsewhere in the meantime. It makes sense. Go to the club with unlimited spending power. However if he thinks that will save him he's wrong. Pep is joining a team for the first time that isn't guaranteed anything, a team he'll actually have to manage.

This will solidify him or it'll leave him crushed like Villas-Boas

Newcastle launch £24 million bid for Berahino apparently.

Forget that though, Ayoze Perez just signed a new 5 year contract. That's the best news I've had this window :D
Probably insurance that he won't be leaving for pennies. At the same time it's refreshing to see a lad that genuinely loves Newcastle.

I can see why Newcastle want Berahino though where others are asking questions. Something I can answer later.

Again though we're not bothered if it fails and we have to go hunting into the summer window, the more pressing issue is the ridiculous size of the squad and particularly the massively inflated midfield.

Berahino reminds me of defoe, some one who's talent will never match up to their ego but is still never the less a pretty good player. Shame he come the summer has wasted so much time messing about.

adzii_nufc 01-02-2016 21:25

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

Berahino was wanted by Newcastle for his pace and to provide an option out right when required, the same now applies to Doumbia, Mitrovic is still the main man and anyone bought would be support.

I'm not bothered in the slightest, Perez can now sit in his number 10 role with the arrival of Doumbia. Reports suggest Newcastle were told Berahino could join them in the summer for an agreed fee between the two clubs, that exchange took place early January. Now West Brom will refuse to sell in the summer due to the audacity of Newcastle to launch a bid anyway.

With that in mind, it seems to me Newcastle knew this was a failed target from the get go but deliberately bid and made it public to sway fans into thinking they'd at least tried. In other words, Newcastle had no intention of getting a bid accepted.

Hoping that's not the case but the points can't be ignored.

It is a pretty naff comparison. Closest high price comparison - age is Lukaku I reckon. If he got a top Premier League club that'd actually play him then he'd smash Shearer's record. His age and goals are incredible.

I said a few weeks ago. Arsenal are slipping, and it shows it. Listen to the radio, and the commentator was saying that Arsenal were pushing strongly against Saints. But no one to put the ball in the net.

Wenger was wrong not to buy anyone in the window.

Just think if Wenger wanted a striker, he could have called Daniel Levy, offered him 100 mil for Kane, he might have considered that fee.

But then, we would have three players PLUS the cash for Kane. But there again Kane is a home grown Spurs man scores GOALS Two tonight.

When the Gunners play Spurs at The Lane Kane and co will show Arsenal how to score goals

Well it was worth the wait after all. An early first half goal at OT tonight settled the nerves. Best performance from United for a very long time. Three excellent goals, Martial frightened Stoke all night and young left back Borthwick-Jackson was close behind Martial for MOM.

Second goal was a blast from the past, swift one/two touches from deep in their own half and a sublime finish from Martial.

Only on goal difference you are. And anyway, I would think Wenger could offer Kane lots of money per week but would Kane want to go back to a club where the manager said he would never be good enough for the Premier League or Arsenal? Because if I was Kane, I'd tell Wenger to get lost if he ever came sniffing round again. Plus Spurs would never sell to Arsenal, they only got Sol Campbell because of the Bosman ruling.

ALL LONDON football fans met at Leicester Square, to say hello to the Geordies. And l met some great Arsenal fans. And we got on well together.

Get rid of whinger Wenger, and Arsenal will be great again. He needed to buy in the window, to prove they can win the title.

adzii_nufc 04-02-2016 12:12

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

It would make sense for him to go to Chelsea. McClaren has to be on borrowed time now. I've been patient enough and ignored some weird tactical choices over this season but the way he lined Newcastle up last night just adds to the fact he's an absolute madman that's so out of touch with the Premier League.

A front three of Ayoze Perez, Townsend and Sissoko. Perez playing through the middle. The team then proceeded to send balls in from the wing for an entire half to be met by absolutely nothing. Perez needs balls through the middle, not forgetting he isn't 6 foot either and he's a number 10. Naturally we didn't head a single ball for that reason. Mitrovic was introduced finally and thus non surprisingly got onto the end of a cross albeit sending it wide.. but again our first effort on goal. Perez can now freely explore the final third and begins to make chances and take ones of his own.. being the only player to actually force a save.

How does one call for wide play in the transfer window, sign a winger, then proceed to play your smallest player in the middle on his own? A team that now has no Centre back and no Left back pending the results of Mbemba and Dummet. £90 million and no defenders. Suicide. I suppose you could take advantage of the 13 first team midfielders on the book

Absolute madman.

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

McClaren seems to blame everybody else apart from himself.

Yes it amazes me why he did not purchase a decent C/B as Gary Cahill is available and he is far better then what they have got currently.

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

If Bayern Munich don't win the champions league this year then would/should Pep be classed as an average manager there. They won three trophies including that one the season prior to his appointment and given the team he has and the league he is in my grandmothers cat could have won that league as a manager.

If Pellegrini wins all four this time how can Pep improve on that?

Yes, l did say that Poch needed to go. But, sometimes we make silly comments.
He has transformed a club that is on the brink of the PL title. I will be happy to settle for Champions League football.

The title is going to Leicester City, and good luck to them. I like it when an outsider wins the title.

I believe that Arsenal will burn themselves out - as usual. AND THAT IS NOT BECAUSE I AM A SPURS FAN.

Arsenal needed to buy a striker in the window, as you cannot rely on Giroud or Walcott. You need fresh legs, to go the full way to the top

There's little hope, It's clear the owner is happy to listen to offers and be done with the club but the way he's gone about it is shameful, he's pretty content on just letting them drop. I find a move like that pretty awful. It's football though, anything can happen and Villa could easily get 4-5 wins and suddenly be above the zone.

Newcastle need rid of McClaren. If they fail to beat West Brom I can see David Moyes making a return to English football.

Sunderland are in a state that's actually worse than Villa, someone put it to them at the start of the season that they were actually in massive debt (£250 million) and thus could not afford to sign poorly and spent minimal either way. Common sense tells us Sunderland simply cannot afford to fall out of the Premier League because they have a chairman that won't invest properly and they could face financial ruin if they don't tread carefully. Staying in the Premier League for a mere 2 seasons could clear any debt.

Its not a secret, the club has been up forsale for over 2 years with a tag of £150million. He bought Villa for £68Million and spent big under Martin O'Niel and got some "success" with Villa finishing 6th.

Since then its been a disaster of poor players on huge wages and poor managers. When you see Micah Richards taking £65k a week out the club and doing nothing it just...well anyway lol.

Keep him in until the end of the season if putting Giggs in temporary charge wouldn't work but for God's sake do not give this clown another season to utterly destroy United.

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

Can't blame McClaren for Colo and Steven Taylor being absolutely dreadful, you can blame him for starting an inexperienced left winger at left back. To lose 3 goals by mistakes is purely dreadful. I'd hate to be Daryl Janmaat, knowing the 3 idiots around you are making you look bad.

If McClaren isn't walking on a tightrope then i'd be massively shocked.

4 mistakes, 4 goals, is this even real? FIFA defending on display. Through ball over the top that Taylor has to get goal side for, doesn't and then gets nowhere near heading it.

denphone 13-02-2016 20:03

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

Taylor has not played for 6 months so only a idiot would start him from the start and he purchases all these players in the transfer window but yet does not purchase a defender or two.

Ridiculous penalty decision.

Clattenburg really is a twonk again this week.

Yes l could not believe it when it was awarded.

Arthurgray50@blu 14-02-2016 22:03

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

I have several points to make.
The biggest one is WAS it a penalty. Clattenburg, is a prat to be honest. He pointed a for a foul. And then gave the penalty. And obviously, being s Spurs mad fan. I will say its a penalty, wouldn't l.
But, if you look at the angle, Clattenburg, could not have seen the actual touch. The rules say that it has to be 'handball' The WHOLE arm, is regarded as handball.
The ball touched his BODY, between the BODY and his ARM.

No matter what way you look at it WAS BOTH. Was it deliberate, I doubt it.
But Clattenburg, gave it, so its a penalty. Spurs were lucky.

But we won the game.

Point two, l think the title, will be between Arsenal AND Spurs, l think Leicester, are showing crack signs. After yesterdays performance, it looks it.

I reckon it will go to the wire. Which is good for football.

My resent of all is to the Pratt football commentators, they should keep there mouths shut.

If they want to be a manager, then so be it. Martin Tyler, is the most biased commentator. And Michael Owen, talks a load of crap

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

Is this Manchester United? :erm:

As fans of other teams we probably shouldn't be concerned but I grew up on watching a rampant United, a legendary invincible Arsenal and the conquerors of Europe in Liverpool. We've seen just how far Liverpool have fallen. Something needs to be done about the absolute mess at United.

The United I know would've ragged these lot all over and be 3 up by now. Seems like Van Gaal is gone at the end of this season and Mourinho will fix this crap. Mourinho only needs a year or two and then he'll be off, at the very least you'll have a Premier League title to show for it.

Indeed MU like us currently are light years away from the glory days of old as that seems like a distant memory away for both of us.

How badly injured?

Ah doesn't seem too bad for De Gea. Fantasy Football teams relax.

United on the other hand...
