After BT Sport arrived, I think we were all wondering if Atlantic was going to follow. He may have been 50% right, but he did cause chaos for a little while.

Brilliant.

So, will Sports 5 be launching tonight on schedule, or will there be a last minute delay for VM customers?

Good that it should be launching tomorrow morning, as the channel doesn't actually start broadcasting till 6:00pm.

So 6 Sky Sports HD Channels for £7.00 a month, lot better value than a few weeks ago when it was 2 HD Channels! ;)

The price might be better but Now TV is beset with streaming and buffering issues to make it unwatchable and pointless to have

Thats on 152MB broadband and a wired connection to computer, PS3 and xbox. It doesn't work on any of them

There has been quite a few issues in particular when Game of thrones was airing that said I've never seen any issues like you describe on my connection its streamed pretty much flawlessly , the PQ has some way to go in competing with Netflix but its more than acceptable and buffer free.

Is it constant buffering issues ?

I had similar issues when I subscribed to Now TV. Never had a problem watching any VOD shows but always had issues with buffering the odd time I tried to watch anything live, especially the sports.

Still think they'll struggle with subscriber numbers as they've got their pricing structure wrong even though they seem to be slowly coming round to this with the new prices.

That answers it then , I never use the live channels they're awful quality compared with On Demand and seem pointless if I'm honest (sports being the exception).

I always stick to the On Demand content however I must admit I've not had issues using On Demand.

Yeah the VOD stuff works well MM. Be interesting to see how they develop Now TV as they need to establish a price point to try and encourage customer uptake and compete with Netflix, Amazon, etc, whilst not devaluing their Sky TV packages.

Although for me, sexism aside, SKY has not been the same without Richard Keys and Andy Gray. I mean, Neville and Redknapp are good pundits but without Gray or Keys the coverage seems lacking. As I say, it could just be me.

i'd agree with you on gray and im surprised bt sport havent snapped him up full time to replace owen. but i suppose that would admit that the hiring of owen was a dreadful decision...

What's Owen doing wrong? All I can remember is of him being a straight laced bore. Heck, he even bought two houses next to each other, so that his parents could be (very) nearby!!!

Back to truTV, I am hearing reports that the technical standards are dire. Sound out of synch with the picture, just a black screen and channel DOG where the adverts should be etc.

Maybe the real reason that we don't have it is because it doesn't meet VM technical standards :D

His voice is just so monotone and bland. Its really unsuited to tv! I didnt actually find phil neville too bad at the world cup but owen really ruins BT sport coverage for me. Some of the things he says too are just daft too. But then again as a newcastle fan i do hold a grudge against owen anyway...

You could well be right for trutv especially if they're charging vm too much for the channel! Bad picture and a bad price...

Official Details on WWE Network Going Global Today, Rolling Out on Smart TV's & Other Devices
By Marc Middleton
Aug 12, 2014 - 10:09:07 AM

- WWE issued the following today:

WWE® NETWORK GOES GLOBAL

STAMFORD, Conn., August 12, 2014 – The U.S. English language version of WWE Network is available starting today, on an over-the-top basis, in more than 170 countries and territories, including Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Mexico, Spain, and the Nordics, among others. The network is expected to be live in the U.K. by this October and plans for the network in Italy, UAE, Germany, Japan, India, China, Thailand and Malaysia will be communicated at a later date.

For $9.99 (U.S. dollars) per month with a six month commitment, fans will have access to 24/7 programming, all 12 live WWE pay-per-view events, and the most comprehensive video-on-demand library. In addition, subscribers can now choose a monthly offering at $12.99 (U.S. dollars) with no commitment and the ability to cancel at any time. The $12.99 price point is a change from the previously announced $19.99 monthly plan and allows WWE to offer an option with no commitment that we believe better reflects the variety of economies that exist internationally.

Like other digital subscription services, such as Netflix and Hulu Plus, fans are able to subscribe online by going to WWE.com and clicking on the WWE Network button on the top right corner of the navigation bar. Throughout the day, WWE Network will be made available internationally across all platforms including web, mobile, gaming consoles and connected devices.

Additionally, WWE today announced that WWE Network will be available by tomorrow on Sony internet connected TVs, Blu-ray Disc players and Blu-ray Home Theater systems. By this Friday, WWE Network will be available on Samsung Smart TV devices, Blu-ray Players and Home Theater systems.

As I expected, it's just in Canada that legislation requires a tie-up with a local broadcaster (Rogers).
I expect it's because the UK is the second largest that it's being left till later so that any glitches can be ironed out before UK launch.

Its not even available on TIVO in the USA so I wouldn't expect it anytime soon , you'll need a PlayStation , Xbox , Roku , Apple TV , Kindle fire or certain Sony devices if you wish to watch on TV.

You could also wire your PC/Laptop to your TV but who can be bothered with that mess.

By this Friday, WWE Network will be available on Samsung Smart TV devices, Blu-ray Players and Home Theater systems.

sounding good and all PPV

Wonder why UK gets it October second biggest market.

I'm not convinced by this but i'm a negative and angry person. 7 odd quid a month for all pay per views and access to all wwe shows and sky are okay with this and have signed a new contract? Sky are animals and money grabbers. For them to have let the sky ppv cash cow drop through their fingers, for them to allow people without sky sports to access wwe programming, for them to allow wwe to market the network without them dominating it via their own indemand service seems completely alien.

I hope i'm wrong. i would LOVE this. But i know the greed of sky and dont trust them

Sky will still have raw & Smackdown, and they will still all PPV this is no different than the USA. Maybe WWE is willing to take hit money wise.

Or could have something to do with the UK being WWEs 3rd biggest audience so they want to make sure the network can handle the strain before launching in the UK. USA was a standalone launch i think Canada was too?
Not everything is Skys fault, just a thought.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 3

I'm still certain that the network in the UK is going to be a Sky/Virgin channel included in the Sky Sports package, just like how it's a cable channel in Canada.

Sky Sports has the exclusive rights to all the PPVs, so there's no way that they would be okay with WWE broadcasting them on a cheaper platform.

Not really vindictive just end of a contract and start of new, sky planned earlier in year what is going to be ppv or shown on sky sports and originally network wasnt planned till next year.hence change in new contract starting earlier to slow take up in states but numbers are picking up

What makes you say that? Canada's set-up is due to different legislation in that country so WWE needs a local partner. WWE does not have the same need in the UK. With the boom in devices like Roku, PPV on Sky and streaming for enthusiasts looks a cost-effective way of delivering the sport.

Each to there own I suppose, legends house was brilliant and when the warrior passed away the coverage and the special tribute shows were awesome ;)

Agree bud also i quite enjoyed the epic journey of Dwayne the rock johnson aswell as slowly making my way through the ppvs of the attitude era lol.
Plus from what i've read they are going to have every single episode of RAW, smackdown, Thunder, ECW, Nitro and Saturday main event on it soon.

Also on another note saw on DS Starsport have announced their premier league price for the season will be 400inr which is about £4 for the whole season.
Inbox me if you want to know which smart dns works as not going to say here as not sure of the rules on forum about this.

If WWE Network launch as an add on channel I will think about it. But I will not think about it if they launch WWE Network UK as an on demand like channel.

Or maybe he uses his Sky Sports subscription for watching things other than just wrestling ;)

Standalone sub's are ok but they're certainly not for everyone , some will get more value for money out of a TV subscription.

Do Sky know some thing that the rest of us don't, Sports 5 showing a SPL game, Scotland still part of the UK as far as I am aware.

Also News HQ, sorry I expect news on a 'news' program and not an extended promo as to what's currently on Sky's other channels.

Think peeps are missing the point all future monthly ppv events after night of champions are going be on sky box office at nearly £20 or they can pay £6-£7 and watch them thru the network and in hd it's worth subscribing just to get the ppv events if watch nothing else

Unless I've missed something, it only says 'Coming Soon to Freeview and Satellite'. This doesn't mean they won't launch on Virgin, who seem to sew these deals up very close to the launch dates.

Bay TV hopes to launch in October. The issues have been the delays in getting the Freeview infrastructure in place so that Bay TV can broadcast via DTT to all of its catchment area.
Quote:

Bay TV It means we have had to revise our plans and we are now working towards a launch some time in October, depending on the speed with which the Storeton relay can be commissioned. We will set a firm launch date at soon as possible. So, please spread the word, and watch out for further news and updates.

I'd say 0% chance of that happening considering Sky Sports 4 shows a lot of Golf it would be a pretty stupid name.

UHF Channel 56 from Keighley is reserved for Local TV, so it will get a service if the franchise is taken up when advertised. If it's not, there is the possibilty of it being lumped in with Leeds.
