The information that I was given yesterday is contrary to your view.

There is nothing to be gained by rubbing politicians up the wrong way, in fact, quite the opposite. Remember, it is members of parliament that legislate on matters such as taxation and the way that companies are allowed to operate in this country ;)

This answer will not surprise anyone.

Anyway this is off-topic and should the subject come up in another thread I'll discuss it.

Yes, let's keep on topic.

Not sure if MB has heard anything else, but I've not heard anything since the details that I posted yesterday.

In a nutshell, if Premier Sports choose to accept the new, more favourable, terms that Liberty Global are now offering, Premier Sports will be coming to VM.

The posts that Premier Sports have made on social networking sites look encouraging on the face of it.

To be honest, it doesn't bother me personally either way if Premier Sports comes to VM or not as i'm not really a sport lover.

I do, however, know that many people do want to see it on the platform, so that's why I went to the trouble of finding out what the state of play was.

I do sympathise with the earlier comments made by theone2k10 though.

I don't think that it's very gracious for information that someone has taken the trouble to obtain and post to be met by negativity, sometimes verging on the point of rudeness, especially when ludicrous claims are made that this represents the view of everybody in the forum.

All that this will achieve is to make people think twice before bothering to find out and/or post information that they are privvy to in order to give other members a heads up as to what's around the corner.

Spot on bud MB is indeed normally the one for confirmed info , all i'm going to say is staff have been in this weekend. Some were there until 6pm tonight.
Last time this happened was the week the Sky channels returned back to VM.
So if the past is anything to go by then something big is coming.

You get used to it mate i just take pleasure in having the last laugh when the channels i say are going to launch , launch lol. I got heckled and laghed at on another forum when i said Bravo2 would launch and it happened , i got laughed at when i said SYFY would be in M+ package and it happened lol. Sometimes it gets frustrating and i do think "why bother" but end of the day most folks on this forum are good folk so i'm quite happy to continue to share any info i get.

I am watching Living HD right now and noticed a red button option that allows me to navigate all the sky on demand stuff without using the main TiVO menus. I assume this has been here and I have not noticed?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 5.

Yeah, the red button has been available for a while now and as far as I'm aware it's available on all boxes as well, not just TiVo

I honestly don't know what you're talking about here. I had to go back and re read your post giving the information about Premier Sport. In it you suggest that Virgin are attempting to appease mps, plural.

Since then, one person has argued that there is really only one mp involved, and another has suggested that said mp really won't hold the sort of sway required to make a difference in these specific circumstances. In both instances you have exercised your right to reply.

Am I missing something?

I would be very happy if this was the preparation for the Sky channels launch, but recent indications have been that this won't happen until the end of October at the earliest. So perhaps these guys were staying late to get Netflix up and running.

That's right - I made the point only because Media Boy reported no channels to launch this week.

Of course, we have no way of knowing whether this is correct anyway since everything is so hush-hush!

I know you say staff were in this weekend, but what staff you refering to?

Customer Services, Technicians, Management, Product Development, Marketing, Finance, Web Team etc?

VM have staff working every weekend, can you be a bit more specific?

My friend is a senior manager at VM in Scotland and she works plenty of weekends but I don't see the relevance to your post.

No, me either. But I think the timing is interesting, as presumably all TiVo users will have Netflix as an option by December. Perhaps this is a response from Picturebox to that.

I have been told last week that Netfix will be an add on with the cost being £5.99 per month.

I found on Saturday that Virgin Media are still offering Baby TV as an add on channel via 'TV Channel upgrade' on V Boxes.

I reckon there will be a free trial similar to Spotify, and then after that the billing gets done by VM to the 3rd party as the accounts will be linked.

On a side note, I had the 6 months free Spotify last year but never subscribed after it, and checked it in MVM the other day and managed to subscribe to another 3 months free so perhaps worth checking :)

I've got 2 months left of my 50% off deal. I must admit if you are looking to save some pennies each month, the 50% off deal for a year is simply outstanding value. You've got to go where the value is.

It can't be too far away, there's not many entertainment slots left and most of the existing ones are probably reserved for specific channels.

Got to agree. I've always found Picturebox to be a total waste of time and money. There is better movies to watch free on TV over the next 7 days on the likes of ITV2, Film4 and Channel 4.

People on the trial have to log in with their existing subscriptions to access Netflix (or join if not a member) so you won't need separate subscriptions.

In my opinion, charging for Netflix will not make having Tivo a USP - it will simply make it much like other "internet Ready" devices - my WD Live box for example has Netflix !

Be much better if they are to charge to have a reduced fee. I am expecting my XL package to increase next year anyway

Totally agree with that, I don't have a Tivo box and as things stand have no plan to get one. If I wanted Netflix I could get it on my PS3, if it were to come in the XL package it would peak my interest in getting a Tivo box but otherwise I don't think I would pay for it.

I agree. I have said several times that I can't understand why someone who wants Netflix is waiting for it to be added to Tivo, especially as it has been a very long wait. Boxes such as the WD TV Live, are actually better for Netflix in that you can get other Regions on them. So unless their is a discounted price, then it is not a USP.

However some people do like the convenience of everything in one box, so it will be an added value convenience rather than a USP. And there is nothing wrong with added value convenience. The fact that Netflix titles will be included in any Tivo search is another nice feature.

To be honest I personally think the Netflix UK movie range is very uninspiring , many of those have aired on TV I subscribe mainly for its original content and the odd good TV box set , take them away and I wouldn't pay £5.99 for just the movie side of things.

Totally agree , I'm currently not a VM subscriber I'd be more likely to subscribe to XL were Netflix included as to me it would be another string to the bow for XL , as you say Netflix is already available on a multitude of devices anyway but its inclusion in XL would give non TIVO customers another reason to change their STB.

It's the TV side of Netflix more than anything else that keeps Mrs. Chad and I entertained. The ability to discovery old and new shows, and to be able to consume full boxsets one after another.

We are currently watching our way through House of Cards, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, The Tudors, Dexter, Prison Break and Modern Family. Whilst most have already been on TV, somehow along the way we managed to miss these shows or didn't catch them from the beginning. The movies, for us, is a nice little bonus.

Whilst most have already been on TV, somehow along the way we managed to miss these shows or didn't catch them from the beginning. The movies, for us, is a nice little bonus.

Same as our house , House of Cards is brilliant I'm looking forward to the second series , another plus side for Netflix is its awesome picture quality and easy to use interface which is uniform across all devices.

The picture quality is fantastic. I've never once had any kind of buffering issue either. We watch Netflix in the living room via the app on our LG Smart TV. In the bedroom we watch it via the Nintendo Wii. If I've been sent to the spare bedroom I watch it on the PC :D My wife watches episodes of shows on her Kindle Fire at work during her lunch break.

If Netflix launched as a standalone premium channel, rather than being bundled with the XL package, then I believe Netflix would have made a big mistake. A deal that would get them a guaranteed income for the next few years, is far better than a deal that will probably only get them several thousand new subscribers over the same period.

I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree there then , in my opinion Netflix has easily the best most intuitive user interface it also has the best technology.

I don't want to access content from a plethora of devices. So having all this on the TIVO is perfect for me and for many others, i suspect.

As far as the cost is concerned, I would welcome having netflix on the XL package. I feel I lose out a bit with XL at the moment because I never watch sport. There should be something on there for non- sports fans.

However I do agree with Old Boy, there isn't anything in XL for non-sports fans except HD. Netflix would of been a good alternative and would of been a great way to replace non-PPV or Catch Up On Demand services.

For example, if Virgin offer to pay them around £1 a month for every XL subscription, that would get Netflix a guaranteed income of around £2M a month. To get that same amount without a deal for XL, they would have to get over 15% of Virgin's XL subscribers to sign up. Considering the fact that only 500,000 people across the whole of the UK have subscribed to their service over the past year, then expecting to get another 333,000, from a much smaller catchment area, seems far fetched. So 2 million new customers, albeit paying less than the normal price, is a very tempting offer, especially when you see that their current total number of subscribers in the UK is only 1.5 million. It would also get them in 1st, before Lovefilm, that's got to count for something as well. Virgin could even offer to restrict their service to their set-top boxes only, as part of any deal.

Although I could be totally wrong in thinking that LG would be willing to do a deal with Netflix regarding the XL package. But it would be a massive coup if they did, especially when you consider the fact that they seem to be buying up all the channels that they are missing at the moment, so also adding Netflix would give them the edge over all their competitors.

I believe you can have up to 6 registered devices per account, which is great and certainly alot more realistic than VM's TV Anywhere service where you can only have 2 devices per household.

I'm exactly the same , in my eyes this is were the traditional pay TV providers like Sky , VM and BT are failing , the families of today want access to their content on all their devices were ever they are not just those the pay tv firms deem most important.

I'm not sure if I agree.

If you are a music fan you get 4 music channels exclusive to the XL package along with 5000 music videos free on demand. Not to mention 3 months worth of free Spotify when you join Virgin.

If you are a fan of on demand and catch up content you have access to and incredible 3200 hours worth of TV at the touch of a button.

Fans of documentaries and factual content are looked after pretty well with 15 channels exclusive to XL including History, National Geographic, National Geographic Wild and Crime & Investigation. Granted some channels are +1 and in HD.

Those with little ones are getting great value from XL with 10 kids channels exclusive to the XL package. The Disney collection of channels are very popular.

The lack of entertainment for non sports fans with XL is a myth, in my humble opinion.

I've always thought the XL package is pretty good value. It really has something for everyone.

I've just noticed that it's the music fans, not sports fans, who get the best value from XL.

M+ and L customers have to pay 29p per video. If someone joining Virgin on the XL package loves music, and watches all 5000 videos during their 18 month deal, they are getting the equivalent of £1450 worth of content for free included in their package  That's a whopping £80.55 worth of free music every month when compared to M+ and L.

Actually just noticed that a 10 video playlist is £1.75 so that works out at £875.00 rather than £1450.00.

It makes the value of BT Sports and ESPN look insignificant :D

See my above post about music channels and music on demand via Virgin Media. Nobody does music like Virgin Media.

I'd also add that Virgins TV Anywhere, through an XL package, offers more live TV on the go than anyone else in the UK. That's a pretty big selling point too.

One other thing I missed since joining SKY is not being able to watch catch up TV or on demand on my SKY HD box in my bedroom. Not a problem on the XL package as your second box still allows you to watch all of the on demand content.

I agree that if you ignore the HD channels, BT Sports, music on demand, Virgin TV anywhere and a cheap multiroom experience then the XL package has nothing to offer ahead of what competitors offer.

I believe that Netflix will be offered on a 1 year contract, with the first 6 months free. Of course, this looks to be a better deal than it is as one pays nothing initially. In reality it is a 50% off one year deal.

Nobody I've asked knows anything at all about Baby TV going into XL. I think we can put this down to being a rumour without foundation ;)

There have been instances where people have been kind enough to post information that they have learned about possible forthcoming channels and been met by nothing short of rudeness and/or posts that take the thread off topic.

Picking holes in such posts and bringing up matters that are not part of the salient point of the post in question both disrupts the thread and puts people off from bothering to share the information they have.

There was some disagreement as to whether rumours should be posted in here, but that was sorted out a good few pages ago :)

I believe you can have up to 6 registered devices per account, which is great and certainly alot more realistic than VM's TV Anywhere service where you can only have 2 devices per household.

I like the flexibility of having content across a range of devices, but (and this I think is what he meant), I don't want to have to connect loads of devices to my tv in order to watch content from a range of sources. That's why I'm looking forward to Netflix coming to TiVo, even though I have a laptop, tablet, phone and console I could already be watching it on if I wanted.

I wonder if this improved offer by VM will mean a reduction in the standalone subscription charge? How much is it on Sky?

A) I was told last night by an rumour poster that Virgin may launch Premier Sports before that Rugby world cup thing starts.

B) Premier Sports costs £9.99 per month (info from Premier Sports web site).

Two ignorant questions to start my day to you all hahaha

When Virgin Media did the NGTV updates back in 2011 it took three nights to update all areas of Manchester.

So maybe Virgin have added the Netfix tests to Manchester to see how the Netfix tests worked in an big area.

There are still regional headends, that hasn't changed, so there can still be regional rollouts
