Just make a bid Arsenal, show some intention. Looks like no big signings so far so Fabregas will go down very well, letting him join United without a fight would not.

Fabregas isn't moving. He'll be at Barca for another year. Utd are just making noises.

Manchester United Club statement on Old Trafford

Following Trafford Council’s decision regarding Asset of Community Value status on its Old Trafford stadium, the club has issued the following statement:

“The club has received the decision by Trafford Council. Old Trafford is, of course, a special place; it is the heart and soul of the club. The club obviously sees it the same way, which is why over the last eight years it has demonstrated its commitment to Old Trafford by spending around £90m upgrading its facilities and it will continue that investment in the future.

“We do have concerns that the legislation is not being applied correctly which could set a precedent throughout the country. Therefore, we have asked the council to follow the statutory review process to ensure the legislation is being applied as intended and we shall continue to keep open communication with the Council.”

£50 million for Suarez, £86 million + future incentives for Bale.

Talk TV revenue all you want, it's not going to matter if Spurs, Madrid, Liverpool, Newcastle & Chelsea keep buying/selling players for ridiculous prices.

If Demba Ba kept going at Newcastle or got played at Chelsea what we thinking? about £60 million sound about right based on the Suarez fee? Don't be daft. Robin Van Persie? about a £100 million right there.

Basically raising the level of transfer fee's yet again :( It's great if your club can afford it, then there's us with millions lying around but apparently pennies to spend. Then comes this windfall of revenue which isn't going to matter that much in a transfer market as every team now want's double/triple what their player's worth!

No, i am merely being consistent.

I think you are only as good as your last game, I just don't see friendlies as games, merely exercise.

That is why i don't rate Liverpool, until they actually start challenging.

It is also why I think Man UTd are ok, but not great.

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

This has been a strange transfer window.

Everyone has money, wants to spend it. But can't.

If Man utd get ronaldo, i would say good transfer window, else, not sure.

If arsenal get suarez (though not keen on him), equally, they might say, good transfer window.

Tottenham, if they sell Bale for £105m...who cares who they get, that is a good price. Buy a few players..be happy.

Chelsea, not sure, they need a striker, so they need to buy, else, i would say they have weakened (still unsure about rooney, guess he is a positive, but ?)

Liverpool, if you lose suarez, got to say you are weaker, unless you buy someone who ends up being as good.

Have i missed anyone?

(refuse to mention newcastle, still trying to work out the kinnear signing :D)

apparently the club has told them to find new clubs, no more loans which is right but these pee takers have no shame so Arsenal will most likely end up paying the difference for a year.

Worth reading Ali's comments from BBc site

Rangers manager Ally McCoist on their defeat by Forfar Athletic
Here's more from reporter Charlie Mann from that explosive Rangers media conference, where Ally McCoist has responded to pre-match criticism from Charles Green. The former chief executive has returned to the club as a consultant and demanded that McCoist's side win a cup trophy this season in addition to the League One title.

"Ally McCoist does not want Charles Green back in Scotland. Ally McCoist was asked if he would go to the airport and pick Charles Green up and he said: 'No chance.'

"He was hugely disappointed. He said the players were sitting in the breakfast room this morning when they were hit with this story. He says, as team talks go, Charles, this was not your best.

"He said it was a terrible situation for Rangers players to be in this afternoon and he says it did contribute to this defeat.

"He said it was no surprise to him that Charles Green has come back today when they were at their most vulnerable and weakest and that it was no surprise that he has surfaced once again after 34,000 Rangers fans have bought season tickets."

We're in no desperate need for money, theres plenty there to spend. It makes no sense to sell him to Chelsea. Despite what people think/say he is a top quality player, he didn't have a good season last year because of injuries and being played out of position. If he stays injury free playing up front he will score 30 a season easy.

Utd don't sell him now they'll get nothing like the fee mentioned in 12 months time + his costing a quarter of a million a week in wages and he'll start to disrupt the squad soon, long may the status quo continue.

This is an interesting summer transfer window.

Really curious how it will ultimately finish.

Like a soap opera,

"Confused? You won't be, after this week's episode of...Football Soap."
—"Will Moyes discover Rooney's affair with Chelsea...? Will AVB discover Bale's affair with Ronaldo? Will Suarez leave Liverpool, and will anyone care?"

l can see many of these transfers going to the last few days of the transfer window due to the usual brinkmanship and sabre rattling by a lot of these clubs.

Yeah it's been looking like that for a while really, otherwise the bid would have been accepted. Bored of this now, Arsenal should up the bid a bit to allow Liverpool to save face and offer one final offer. Then move onto other targets.

Yep, I did and so did all the Liverpool fans. But all the media, and all of Arsenal's fans, the Arsenal manager and board, the Arsenal fans, and all our rival fans were under the impression that the £40m and 1 pence bid DEFINITELY triggers this godforsaken release clause people are so sure exists.

Because of this it's hilarious to see those quotes from Gordon Taylor. Suarez hasn't got a leg to stand on with regards to his Arsenal bid.

also some more this time from the Liverpool Echo who are the best source.
http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport...howing-5677358

final line: The ECHO understands that Liverpool's owners remain absolutely adamant that Suarez will not be sold to the Gunners, regardless of whether they increase their offer over the coming weeks.

#winning. have that you ******g cockney ****s.

I have been adamant all along that he will go to anyone but Arsenal (or Spurs). Infact if we sell him to Arsenal i will for the first time in my life question my support for the club. Because to give the team in 4th, which is our target, a player with 30+ goals is suicide for our season. it's like basically writing the season off. even if we bought somebody brilliant with the money, Arsenal have been given those 30+ goals at our expense and that's that. Also, he is a wonderful, insanely good player. he gives far more than that. it's not just the goals. I can honestly say for £100m i wouldn't sell him to Arsenal unless we had a bid accepted and agreed terms for wages with somebody like Ronaldo. which wouldn't happen. because giving him to those ****s ends our season. we'd never hear the end of it, so i'm delighted that the club are taking this stance. Wenger and the Arsenal fans can get to ****.

Suarez will go, it's just a matter of which window and for how much. He's banned for 6 more games anyway so he might as well sulk in the reserves until Christmas when someone desperate for results will come up with the extra cash.

Wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea started sniffing around, there are still a few portions of Ivanovic left over.

Can't just throw him in the reserves permanently because he would be legally entitled to leave for free in the next window if we do that. He has to be involved in the 1st team squad to cover our own asses.

It's only 5 premier league games anyway, 1 game is the carling cup 3rd round.

Not panicking at all. Other teams will come in, and we will sell to those. Madrid, Shaktar, City, Chelsea. Somebody will. Still ages of the window left and most business is done in the last couple of days.

This is about him not going to Arsenal, not about him leaving. Nobody is that arsed if he leaves. he's a ****, it's the selling to Arsenal we won't accept. glad Rodgers and the entire board and owners feel the same too. common sense. our target is 4th, whether rival fans and naysayers believe we'll get 4th or not is irreverent. that's our target. we won the bloody champions league sooner than Arsenal last won anything, and they've never won that at all. so i don't quite understand this theory that it's IMPOSSIBLE for us to finish 4th. or 3rd for that matter. we finished 2nd four years ago. it's a football season and basically anything in the top 6 teams is possible.

Knowing the type of player Suarez is he'll either pull a Tevez or just spoon his chances on purpose. If anything this will blow up more in Liverpool's face than it will Suarez.

If there are are no other bidders and if we make a conciliatory bid to allow Liverpool to save face, say £45 million, I can't see Liverpool holding on to Suarez. Why keep hold of a player who has so publically went against the club like this? £45 million would still be a fantastic deal should there be no other bids and he clearly wants to leave...

I wonder. It's hard to see them turning down a bid in excess of £50 million, especially if it came from Madrid, given how public Suarez has been about leaving and the accusations he made against the management.

Jay Spearing will be pointing at stuff on the pitch in Bolton next season. We all reckon he was just marking litter for the ground staff to pick up at half time.

Seems that the fee is undisclosed but rumoured to be 10 kit-kats and a motoring atlas ...and a blues cd on the Hallmark label (that's got to be good)
