Providing they use the 'SD, HD, +1' ordering of channels, this should be much better so things like ITV 4+1 and Comedy Central Extra aren't 50-odd numbers off their fellow channels.

Just a quick question will VM need to add new TS streams to add more channels, If so do we just keep checking the TS streams, Then when it rises we will know new channels are on the way?

New TS Steams will be added (Virgin cut one about two weeks ago) I look at ''Total Servs'' every day to see if it numbers has gone up or down I then look at my TV Gudie (All Channels) to see what has been remove or added.

RE:Virgin Media in talks to get Sky Sports HD3 and Sky Sports HD4. Yes or No ?‏

Dear Martin.

Virgin Media would very much like to provide SS3 & 4 to our customers and we continue to discuss with BSkyB. I can't comment much further on the commercial aspects of these discussions but you will find plenty of commentary online which will probably answer your question.

Kind regards

Not really. It's been stated here before that they sometimes add extra streams to perform various tests so it's no guarantee that extra streams means new channels.

I can only confrim that Virgin are in talks with ITV over the missing ITV HD Channels.

I have only seen rumours about Virgin having any talks with BSkyB.

(Until my insiders can confrim they are just rumours in my eyes.)

Hopefully talks with ITV come to fruition , unlike ESPN America HD which VM execs confirmed they were in talks with some 18 months ago.

Virgin Media have been in talks with Sky over Sky Atlantic since before it was launched and these talks appear to have continued ever since. I think you may be clutching at straws here, martine93, but I hope I am wrong!

Don't forget that around launch time, Virgin Media said that we won't be getting this channel any time soon. To my mind, that's far worse than 'coming soon'!

Correct, it is currently 'only on Sky Channel 108' - and when it launches on VM it will also be only on sky channel 108 and no other sky channels. Clever lot these marketeers... ;)

All the prior advertising specifically stated exclusively on Sky, thats been dropped and it was its biggest selling point for switching to Sky TV,s o they woulnd't have done that without good reason...

People keep saying on here that it will be added when its changed from free to all Sky Subscribers to a pack.

Look at the new packs

It's still free to all Sky Subscribers from September bar freesat from Sky users.

So what package do people think SKY Atlantic will be added too if it does actually come to Virgin? I think it will be added to either L or XL. Although seeing SKY seem to be able to dictate certain terms when selling their channels, and the fact they themselves rate the channel highly, I expect SKY to tell Virgin to add it to the XL package. Can SKY really do this?

Its not the 'sport and movies part of it', its the only actual 'on demand' part of the service.

The only reason they are differentiated is some Sky TV customers cannot receive Sky Broadband which is required for Sky Anytime+ on their platform.

I've just explained why the '+' exists. The Sky service as a whole is called Anytime. We are getting anything related to Anytime.

We are not getting Sky Atlantic (HD), Sky Sports 3 HD, Sky Sports 4 HD, Sky Sports News HD, Disney Cinemagic HD or Sky Movies Classics HD due to the sale.

Right I have just spoken to somebody who has got sky anytime is downloaded or should i say put on to the sky+ box,and uses the hard drive to store it on,the programmes are selested by sky.
Where has anytime+ is a ondemand service which the user can choose which programmes he/she wishes to down load,So the on demand service wasnt about wen the sale took place,

or am i just getting tiered and confusing myself?

Sounds like a lot of confused people on here taking rumours and snippets of irrelevant information as solid information.
Anything released will come as part of a press release, we all have to wait and see.

As for Media Boy, he is sometimes handed over inside information from particular individuals, however some of this information forms as part of a non-disclosure. The information that is not under a NDA will be mentioned here.

Can SKY really do this?

I suppose they can put this into the contract if they so wish, but I think VM will want it in XL in any case.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.

From DS, talks have not broken down just a "disagreement" still which is nothing new.

Virgin Media still far away from Sky Atlantic carriage deal

Virgin Media subscribers are facing a long wait before they can get access to Sky's blockbuster entertainment channel Sky Atlantic, as the two firms are still in disagreement over the carriage price negotiations.

Despite Virgin Media chief executive Neil Berkett describing Sky Atlantic as a "great product", the cable operator has so far failed to reach a carriage deal for the channel, with Virgin accusing Sky of demanding an "unrealistic" price.

However, it is understood that the key issue dividing Sky and Virgin Media is price, with the possible underlying issue that Sky is thought to be keen to retain Sky Atlantic as an exclusive part of its own pay-TV offer.

After the channel's launch in February, Sky chief operating officer Mike Darcey claimed that Virgin was providing an obstacle for any carriage deal for Sky Atlantic, largely because the firm wanted the channel "on the cheap".

However, Virgin Media hit back against criticism that Sky Atlantic was not available to its 4m cable TV customers, claiming that Sky was demanding an "unrealistic" price for carriage of the channel.

Sky Atlantic has aired a string of hit shows, including Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire and Treme, but Virgin Media is thought to see the viewing figures as relatively low. It is also understood that there has been modest demand from Virgin Media customers about getting access to the channel.

Those are some of the key points, full story here

'Modest demand for Sky Atlantic'.

Is that because the immodest ones have all left/leaving to get Sky?

No, it's not as popular as some think. Check out the viewing figures for the channel.

Sky Atlantic isn't in my top 10 viewed channels , however I'm glad I have access to it as there are some good shows , the channel at the moment is probably worth more to Sky as an exclusive. It will arrive on VM at some point probably not until next year in my opinion.

Exactly. I see it more as a "nice to have" rather tham a "must have". I'm sure there's stuff on there i'd like :)

I would agree with your comments. Sky Atlantic has some good new series on it , but the rest is just padding. IMO Sky would have been better served putting the new series on Sky 1 as it is their flag ship channel.
From Sky's point of view I guess they had to give their customers some thing that was not available to VM and therefore exclusive.

Ratings, sales figures or cash made have never been a proper indicator if something is good. Atlantic really is the channel that Sky One should be.

Agreed - however, ratings are usually the reason programmes keep being made (or are cancelled).

All the chat on here lately has been about new channels hopefully coming our way. Has anyone got any news about the TiVo improvements we can expect? I read somewhere that there is to be a big update in October when we might be getting reminders, red button functionality and improved SD upscaling. Any more TiVo goodies on the way?

All we know that there is a big update in October but what this entails is the sixty four dollar question.
