Off on my holiday tommorow. Looks like I should be able to fly even though there is an on/off strike in France at the moment.
Looking forward to a break.

Spent all afternoon packing over 400 books into boxes, taking apart the old bookcases, taking them to the tip, assembling two new bookcases, then unpacking the books and putting them on the shelves in alphabetical order - all done.

Now installing MOH Limited Edition - I will be trying out the singleplayer later, after dinner (nice change to eat something that isn't curried....:D).

It's funny how people can change..

When I used to hang around with a friend who I now stay in contact with on facebook, she was always in to the current cool band and rarely watched TV (preferring more artistic pleasures). Now, she is on facebook and tonight has been quoting lines from Grease (the film) and moaning about the various acts on the X factor..

Also, I was out drinking with a friend on Friday. We ended up meeting with a couple of his cousins. One who I remember meeting, but apparently haven't. The other, I apparently have met, but didn't remember.

Anyhow, it turns out the one who I apparently had met but didn't remember went to school with someone else I am friends with.

I went for an eye test at my opticians, earlier this year, I wanted new glasses & it had been 3 years since my last test.

- they referred me to the hospital for extra checks.

Anyway, 3 visits to the hospital later, following eye pressure tests, field of vision checks & several photos of my retinas I am now 'discharged' - so no problems :)

One of our techs had a funny query..

A student came in saying his computer was making an Alarm noise. There are a couple of reasons our PCs will do this (Over temperature warning and Virus infection), so the tech went to investigate. When he investigated, he found a silent PC, and and iPhone sitting by it that was making the noise. The student's iPhone.

We are £141 lighter after having our Combi boiler serviced. I asked if the hot water would come through quicker now that he had cleaned it and he was happy with the emissions etc. He looked sort of blank and said 'I didn't touch that part, I'm only here to service it' I said what about the electrics? 'Oh! I don't do electrics' What does a boiler service entail? Ever get the feeling you've been done?

My boiler was serviced for £70 and the motorised switch that was broken in the airing cupboard was replaced for £25 so im happy and to top things off i tried to pay them but they said they would send a bill.

My plumber also said he didn't do electrics as they are not aloud to unless they're signed off he said.

I recently thought I would try the Aldi online photo service to collate an hardback album of photos I took during my niece's wedding.

I was surprised by a few things, firstly that the software was relatively easy to use for the album layout, secondly that the price was reasonable, thirdly it arrived 3 days after I placed the order - and finally that the album supplied exceeded my expectations for the quality of the presentation.

No links, in deference to the forum rules on spamming, the service is not free - but if anyone is looking to collate a photo album for a gift, or memento, in my opinion the Aldi service is worth looking at :)

Apparently, he's a giant douchebag.

Your notoriety certainly spreads far afield.

I assume he is the Ulrich Drepper who wears a red hat. It sounds as though you are in for an interesting time and one that would make my son green with envy. :)

Thanks so much Tinkey. It's being a long year with pain that no doctor yet can figure out but with the appointment next Thursday I really do hope that they will be able to find what is wrong. ;)

I just wish someone would take the proceedigs off my hands with such a giggle :D

Luckily, it's not a 5-month appointment and sadly it has to be kept on hold for a while but it's sure nice to be helping to plan it. :)
I really want Fronk to sort it for me tho :D

It's a plain easy option for them, isn't it?

Anyone here who is off to the RA Hall later today is in for a huge treat if you're off to see the wonderful Nigel Kennedy and his World Orchestra performing a bit of Vivaldi and some other bits ;

All his violinists are wonderful and amazing and young and heck - all of his new orchestra is. - very carefully picked.
Skillful manipulation/inspration of the wonderful orchesatra and audience, great tact in handling of people who were losing patience with his late arrival on stage. Great interjection of humour.
He really kept the orchestra and audience on their toes once he'd started :D
The passsion in the music was... I'd better shut up - I think I may get bad-repped for being boring and too wordy :D

Heck I got a fist bump at the end and so did leading violinists(all through) and 2 others sitting front smack in front of hisself - god it was good and so was he. :) Fascinating stuff.

Patient transport actually turned up to take me to hospital :)

Ok so the news wasn't so good, but at least I got there lol

And I had them check my next three appointments to make sure the transport has been booked for them.

I did!
It was a warm-up for tonight for him, I think, in a small venue.
I wish I could have gone to the Glee Club afterwards for the jam session but I nearly missed my train home as it was as he over-ran by 50 minutes :D
Every moment was precious.

Did they say that they would make sure that your transport would be available for your next appointments Dilli?

The interview went well, I am awaiting my CRB check results, need to do the training and then start a two month trial (on a voluntary basis). After that I start properly like.... So just for a change I feel ever so slightly less of a bum than normal.

Well done Dilli, I am very happy for you. https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2010/11/69.gif

As for you being a bum .... well I think I can safely say that anyone who has ever had any dealings with you would dispute that description.

Ooooh Dilli's happy news made me forget why I came on this thread.

Just been to Asda and found 3 remote control plug thingies for a fiver. I bought some last year and they cost me £14.99. Surprising what makes me happy these days, I never thought buying a plug would do it, guess it's a sign of approaching old age.
