Does anybody know if triple H or Brock lesnar are going to be in London next Monday and Tuesday?

MalteseFalcon 18-04-2013 12:27

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

I would imagine Triple H will be at ether RAW or SD to answer the challenge from Lesnar. Doubt Lesnar will show up though. He seems to still be on the part time contract. I like Lesnar though, not as much as I do Triple H though. So I will be cheering for Triple H. Although I think he will retire soon.

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

If Vince was still wrestling in his early 60s (albeit on a very limited basis) I can see HHH doing similar if it helps a storyline so any 'retirement' stipulation he gets involved with is not something I will take seriously.

Jameseh 18-04-2013 14:08

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Seems Taker is now in 6 man tag main events for both Raw & SD tapings which seems rather strange, don't really see how that fills the Punk shaped void. Not that I'm complaining, its pretty damn good.

Hopefully Regal travels, last weeks NXT main event was top class.

Jameseh 23-04-2013 00:44

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Crowd was good, most of the show was good though who thought of still having cena as the 'main event' when you've got taker wrestling...

The dubbing team has/had a lot of work to do.

Jameseh 30-04-2013 17:19

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

WWE have done a deal with Yahoo for a live Raw preshow and a 'brand new' show.

They really should expand their roster with all these shows, Henry wrestled a 4 person gauntlet match, interrupted a match and wrestled a singles at the London tapings, I've found new respect for the guy after that.

Russ 30-04-2013 17:33

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

I think that was only because the Smackdown show in Cardiff was the same night and for some reason that was over-subscribed with upper-end roster members.

Loving the new submission hold of AJ's. Especially as Layla gave her butt a grope Monday night. Now if they could persuade Maryse, Melina and Mickie James back to see them tapping out on AJ's butt that would be me happy.

Still haven't watched Raw, I'm really bored with it at the moment.

I really hope Money in the Bank does something unexpected but I can foresee Big E & Punk winning the contracts, for the inevitable vs. Ziggler/vs. Cena matches.

MalteseFalcon 24-05-2013 11:08

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Ditto, I go through peaks in watching WWE. I find (personally anyway) WWE tends to be at its best between Rumble and WM. Although this year seemed a little flat to me.

If Big E does win MITB, who will be face, him or Ziggler? Ziggler could be a big face star, certainly if the reaction from the crowd on the RAW after WM was anything to go by. Punk works both as face and heel, but whichever he is I still support him. I think probably the best technical wrestler they have in WWE at the moment.

Jameseh 24-05-2013 11:26

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Big E would be face I guess, he's great on NXT as one and all the other tanks are currently heel.

Plus Ziggler's class at being heel.

An ideal I was thinking about for months.

TNA and WWE do an deal to do two PPV together.

1) King of the Ring (Broadcast team Christy Hemme - Ring announcer, JBL Play-by-play commentator and Mike Tenay Comentator) on an WWE TV PPV night (PG Rated)

2) Queen of the Ring - Uncut (Broadcast team Justin Roberts - Ring announcer, Tazz Play-by-play commentator and Jerry Lawler Comentator) on an TNA TV PPV night (Rated R)

I know he's meant to be the dead man but in reality he must be close to 50 and finding it difficult to put his body through it. WWE is really struggling just now for me. Smackdown is pretty pointless now and the Cenafest is getting very very old.

I also don't see the point of smackdown at the moment it is just full of what happened on Raw and how can you show the "slam of the week" when you can only show it in pictures and not film cause it was part of a pay per view event?

adzii_nufc 06-06-2013 11:09

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Haven't watched a Raw or PPV since WrestleMania, been flicking through the reviews and stuff on sites, can't say I'm missing it either. Bring Smackdown to an end, get rid of these ridiculous themed PPV's and start using Ziggler and Daniel Bryan a lot more rather than pushing the hell out of Ryback and Axel and I may just get back into it.

Ziggler needs a bigger role and having Daniel Bryan stuck around with Kane week in week out is criminal. Orton needs a heel turn and the idea of Cena never turning heel is just meh.

William Regal and Daniel Bryan can put on better matches than any Main event this year. How much I miss Kurt Angle.

Quote:

Because it's after a PPV, people are going to know the results so they have to acknowledge it. WWE runs the PPV throughout the week so you can still buy it after it's aired and rather than show any footage from the event they milk any possible sales for the rest of that week.

In other stranger news, Rampage Jackson signed for TNA. Comes after rumours of Chael Sonnen looking at the idea of WWE. Sonnen would make an awesome Heel in my opinion.

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Ziggler has been off with a concussion but he's back this monday. Daniel Bryan is about to have a massive push which will see him main eventing PPVs, this is where his current "weakest link" storyline is heading.

Does anyone know what the first major WWE event was shown by SKY?

SKY launched in February 1989 but the first 2 big WWE events I remember watching was WrestleMania VI and SummerSlam 90.

Was WrestleMania V, SummerSlam 89, The Survivor Series 89 or the 1990 Royal Rumble on SKY?

No, I remember watching the 2001 Rumble on 4. Last PPV I remember watching on 4 was Armageddon 2001, I know because I stayed up all night to watch it. And then failed my exam that I was sitting at 9 o clock that Monday morning.

Wow I can't remember WrestleMania VI being on Eurosport. Whilst I enjoyed WrestleMania VI I didn't really know all of the wrestlers back stories. At that time I had only watched about 1 WWF show. By the time WrestleMania VII came around I'd been watching Superstars of Wrestling for about a year and really knew my stuff. Used to buy every WWF magazine and through time bought all the WrestleManias on Silver Vision video.

WrestleMania VII was great. Some well worked stories came to a head. Jake The Snake against Rick Martel in a blindfold match, The Ultimate Warrior against Randy Savage in a retirement match and Virgil facing Ted Dibiase. Not a fan of Hogan Vs. Slaughter.

That was a great fight. I preferred Mick as Mankind. Whilst hardcore action was always a thrill, I enjoyed watching really good technical fights like Randy Savage against Ricky Steamboat or Bret Hart against Mr. Perfect.

Meh, talking about the past just makes the present state of WWE look pants :(

I know it can't be brought back and I know they make a tonne of money but I just can't find the entertainment in it I used to see. It's like turning Cena Heel would bankrupt the company or something.

Give me one match consisting of.

Kurt Angle vs Daniel Bryan vs Dolph Ziggler vs Shawn Michaels vs Taker vs CM Punk vs William Regal vs Chris Jericho.

Mix them up in singles each week!

Heel Cena
Heel Chael Sonnen.

Ha, created my dream card :(

Russ 08-06-2013 10:34

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

I also think a heel Cena would be a huge failure simply because I don't think he has the move-set. Heels tend to use different moves to faces plus they tend to bump more - Cena is now the wrong side of 35, for him to be an effective heel he'd need to still be a main-event guy and that would require almost Ziggler-level bumps. Cena doesn't bump very well as it is now. As a heel I think it would be terrible.

Inadvertently ended up watching a bit of Raw (recorded show ended and I had SS2 on beforehand), loved the Bryan match.

If they aren't going to put Punk or Bryan on the title hunt(s), I think those two teaming up would be a good way to demolish The Shield. Saying that, hopefully with Punk & Ziggler back they can rely less on The Shield anyway, so they're not as overbearing.

Chad 09-06-2013 00:40

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

How many guys here have seen the WWE live? I've been to 3 shows. One was a RAW roster show in Glasgow, one a Smackdown roster show in Edinburgh and the other was WWE Rebellion at the Sheffield Arena back in 2000. It was a SKY Box Office event. Brilliant night.

I remember Kurt angle, The Rock, Steve Austin and Rikishi fighting in the main event. The Titan Tron was showing the SKY Box Office feed so you could see what the people at home where watching. At the end of the fight the PPV feed ended and the Titon Tron went to a test card then blank. At this point The Rock and Steve Austin hung around laughing and joking with one another in the ring smashing beers together etc.... It was so cool.

Good luck with the tickets. Watching the WWE live is amazing.

I'm happy that I managed to see all of the big names from the late 90's and early 00's live. Guys like HHH, Ric Flair, The Rock, Steve Austin, Kurt Angle, Edge, Chris Jericho, The Big Show, Kane and The Undertaker. Gutted I never managed to see Hogan or Bret Hart live. They came to Scotland about 22 years ago but I couldn't get a ticket. I was however out in Glasgow with my Dad when I saw the Mouth of the South Jimmy Hart and The Mountie buying Scottish tourist trash from a shop. I was so in awe I literately froze on the spot for about a minute.

https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2013/06/36.jpg

When I went to see the WWE at the SECC the wife and I went for a walk around the outside of the venue because we had arrived much earlier than planned. We saw the Big Show out the back wearing a horrific pink Hawaiian shirt and smoking a massive cigar. He was chatting away to Ray Mysterio who wasn't wearing his mask. I was about 26 at the time but again froze on the spot :D

Would like to go, but tickets are expensive and not only that, I'm not really that into WWE at the moment. I go through peaks and troughs, and at this precise moment I'm a bit meh about the whole thing. I still keep an eye on the results on RAW and SD, mainly because I download them for my brother to watch.

But yeah, if I get into it big time again I might ask for money at Christmas to go towards going next year. If I had the money, I'd buy a package and go to WM.

I've not really properly followed the WWE now since about 2006. It was not long after Eddie Guerrero died and Kurt Angle left to go to TNA.

I really enjoy the history of wrestling now more than anything else. Don't get me wrong I know about 80% of the WWE and TNA roster but I couldn't tell you who the current champs and and who they beat for the belts. I catch the Hall of Fame induction each year and catch the WWE Legends of Wrestling round table discussion shows from the States. The round table discussion show is, in my humble opinion, the best programme the WWE are putting out. Always wondered why SKY didn't pick these up. Means I've got to grab them from one of the 2 dedicated wrestling torrent sites.

Whilst I may not watch wrestling now, going to WrestleMania is still a dream of mine, The wife and I plan to fly drive the States in about 2 years time. If we could plan to see either WrestleMania or SummerSlam during that trip, I'd be one very happy guy.

Very true. Teddy Long did a bit on the mic at the SECC, prior to the show starting, to warm the crowd up but there was nothing after that. The fights happened back to back in quick succession. It seemed a bit sterile. The Big Show was epic. I was sitting near to the ring just behind a section that had been roped off for wheelchair bound fans. After his fight the Big Show was over pretending to crush kids heads, posing for pictures, signing autographs then shouted something about a haggis.

I used to enjoy the vintage collection, then I realised it's because it mainly shows WcW, I liked the attitude era on wwe and haven't like much before or since tbh, haven't bothered with it since it went all pg. imo the best thing that could happen to wwe is for tna to grow stronger, at least then they'd have to put the effort in more than just a few times a year.

Would there be sufficient interest to run a prediction game in this thread for future PPV's?

Remember - no spoilers....but the Divas Title match was one of the best divas match I've seen in ages, especially when you consider WWE bricked themselves when Kaitlyn won the title from Eve initially as she wasn't scheduled to win it as she wasn't considered anywhere near good enough. Watched most of it this morning live, a couple of matches were a bit of a yawn fest, but all in all a solid PPV. I give it 4 out of 5.

I only seen one Live I miss the rest due to

Apparently there was a Diva's match? I didn't notice, I couldn't take my eyes off Layla :D

RVD looked awful which was a huge shame. He's a spent force.

He's been offered the HoF in the past but the money he's asking for means he is extremely unlikely to have Vince's approval.

I've only recently started going on /r/squaredcircle but just the sheer volume of comments on his 'results' post stopped me from ruining MITB for myself. It would have saved me a £5 on Sky Bet though.

Anyone watched the CM punk doc? Watched it on the US Netflix, decent watch. Bit of a harsh upbringing but he made it and deserves every second of it.

Really would like to see a new Warrior DVD that is a bit more favorable that the Self Destruction number the WWE put out about 5 years ago.

Started watching again properly, only niggles I really have are as follows, not really interested in Lesnar that much but it annoys me knowing he'll just destroy punk over and over then lose come PPV, pretty much the same as Cena. Chris Jericho rarely winning and still having Dolph Ziggler chasing Smackdown title's :(

I like the idea of Bryan and Cena but it's just gonna showcase Bryan's skills and then have Cena put him down with power.

Rumours for WM 30 are, Rock vs Brock and Cena vs Undertaker.

Yes, last week's SD was his last show for WWE.

Yeah was aware he was off again but to have him job his way out every year is depressing.

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Thing is though losses to people like Fandango won't harm Jericho one bit. Similar to how they jobbed HBK out a lot towards his retirement. Both have achieved so much and have such a legacy that it's not a major thing.

MalteseFalcon 22-07-2013 19:36

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

In fact, it shows them in a good light in allowing others to get over. Would HBK of the Montreal Screwjob era have let Taker keep the streak? Mind you, they weren't making such a big deal out of it then.

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Where do they go with undertaker at WM30 arguably the biggest WM ever. People argue the streak should be given to a younger worker to massively put him over but we're talking about the main event of the 30th anniversary here. It has to be huge. Cena vs Undertaker surely. If it doesn't happen it'll be arguably the biggest match that never happened.

Jameseh 28-07-2013 21:23

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

I doubt they'd do it, they're both draws to WrestleMania for different people, having them in the same match seems a bit detrimental to the show overall.

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Yeah I see your point. As long as it's not cena vs orton I'll live.

MalteseFalcon 28-07-2013 23:49

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Taker has said for the last few years he would like a match at WM with Lesnar. I myself would love Taker to be a surprise entrant at Number 30 in the Rumble, win and then face the champion at WM. Taker would then win the title, and retire it as well as the streak and then we would have a big deal on RAW about Cena being handed back the title in a weak tournament for the new champion.

Russ 29-07-2013 06:57

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Taker needs somebody good enough to carry his injuries through a long match. That person is not Cena.

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Just watched Total Divas from last night. The first 20 minutes or so was awful. It's based around the Bellas and you get to see how nasty and bitchy they really are, I was shocked. If it wasn't for Natalya I would have given up but it got better as it went along. Just like in her matches she carries the other girls. Strangely compelling though and I'll be watching next week with interest.

MalteseFalcon 29-07-2013 10:44

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Where did you watch it? I couldn't find it on Virgin anywhere at all, had to download it to watch. Agree the Bella twins can be bitchy, but when one of them is sleeping with Cena it explains why they get away with murder.

Russ 29-07-2013 11:40

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

I downloaded it too, I don't think it will be made available over here. I try not to pre-judge any of the WWE Superstars based on what happens on Raw or Smackdown as it could easily be part of their character but I did think the Bellas seemed a bit full of themselves after returning. But this show makes it pretty clear. If she sticks around I think Eva Marie will be trouble as well but Vince loves that sort of thing - he encourages behind-the-scenes confrontation as he feels it gets fans more interested if the people concerned have a match.
