Goood choice.
I really like how the Orbital - Blue album went back to their older style.
It definately is a good album to leave the music scene on, not like a lot of people who just produce a best of compilation. One Perfect sunrise is quality.

Agreed - they made the last track on the last album they will ever make an absolute stonker and one capable of bringing back memories of most of classic tracks they have made before like Lush, Halycon (which could be their finest track ever) and Chime etc.

Just wish i could have seen them go last year at Glasto... :(

Im quite into Etieinne De Cracy's Fast Track at the moment as well, had it on Super Discount 2 for ages then saw the video for it the other week on MTV - really made it stand out - been playing it loads ever since.

Ok, here's a challenge for you all.....

About 12 months ago I asked some of my closest friends and colleagues to suggest some bands/albums to me that I might like.

Of the 40 or so that they listed the only 2 that I actually enjoyed were Snow Patrol and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

So, bearing in mind that at the moment I'm into Snow Patrol, Chili Peppers, Kasabian and that I also enjoy G 'n' R, Nirvana, Tom Jones and Jules Holland, and Avril Lavigne.

Please would you guys have a go at suggesting some bands/artists/albums that I might enjoy.

I have fairly eclectic (sp?) tastes in music, can't stand anything too heavy, and I'm not into rap or really heavy dance music.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

If possible I want to give myself a complete change from all of these as some of them have been in there for the best part of 6 months now!!

Raistlin I can recommend three good albums :)

1. The Battle For Everything by Five For Fighting

The Five For Fighting album is probably the best album I have heard for ages and if you watch Smallville then you will already know two of his songs. 100 Years appears on this album and Superman appears on his previous album America Town which is also very good.

2. Back To Bedlam by James Blunt

Listened to it today on the drive home and really enjoyed it, it grabbed my attention in the same way the Five For Fighting album did. It only has 10 tracks but quality always wins over quantity and track 2 'Your Beautiful' is exceptional. Check out the reviews to get an idea of the style of music but the closest I can compare him to is David Gray, Damien Rice and also Five For Fighting. I think he has a better voice than David Gray and the songs are better than Damien Rice's.

3. Lifehouse by Lifehouse.

Again another regular on Smallville and their latest album is enjoyable too.

Another mind jog :) Two female artists that you might consider are Room Noises by Eisley and Siren by Heather Nova. I saw Heather Nova perform Heart And Shoulder live on VH1 several years ago and bought the album purely on that one song and was pleasantly surprised when I listened to the rest of the album.

It's a shame that the artists I have recommended don't get the air play that their songs truly deserve and without people's recommendations you can lose out on listening to some really good music. Most local radio stations always play the same chart music and it's not until you start listening to stations like Radio 2 that you get to hear 'new' music.

If you own an Apple, Trent actually converted one of his songs to GarageBand (comes iwth iLife), straight from ProTools, and he asked people to do whatever remixes they like.
