It's a lot of nonsense. Much of that demand for goods and services doesn't go away just because of the weather and will be made up in the coming weeks as people get back to their desks and work on the backlog.

You are, of course, assuming that the business concerned is not, in any way, time sensitive. You are also assuming the companies involved have enough money to pay their bills even if they can't trade for several weeks. Most companies don't. Can't see the banks, or landlord (to use two examples of bills that are regualar and relatively fixed) allowing companies to miss this months Mortgage or Rent because they couldn't trade for several days.
You are also assuming that the staff of the companies concerned are not paid hourly (a lot are) and can afford to miss all those hours pay. In my experience if you are in a position where you have to take an hourly paid job, then, unless you have a rich family or well paid/rich spouse, you are not likely to be in a position where you can afford to lose that money.
If I remember your circumstances correctly, you are one of the fortunate ones. IIRC you are in a position where you can work from home. You just need electricity, water, food and a broadband connection. A lot of people are not in that position.
