eagles shows some promise but needs more games.. Miller was superb last night and ran the show.. Would like to see Rossi start but as a semi final maybe best to leave him on bench..

better have Ruud and Ronaldo on the bench just in case...

I like both Fortune and P. Neville. Neville is good at what he does, hes not the most skillfull of players but he breaks up the plays very well and gets the balls to players who can do something with the ball.

P Neville was great against Arsenal the last two times when we played them at home in the league.

Re: [Merged] Football talk

guess we have to agree to disagree on this one.

Phil nev has no footballing brain at all. All he does is pass to whoever is standing to his left or right... sometimes even when it's the opposition !!

He's doesn't so much break up play as kick and give fouls away.. Witness the push on Porto last season with 5 mins to go right on the edge of the box that lead to them scoring and knocking us out..

Also the Romania game at Euro 2000 where he slide in on a player going nowhere instead of shepherding them to the byline..

All he can really do is foul and square passes.. i'm sure there's plenty of other players in our youth \ reservers who can do the same and more adn have better footballing brains as well.. He's had his chance and not lived up the quality we expect at United

Thats what he is there to do. Break up the play and give the ball to the more skillfull players. I don't know any player who doesn't give the ball away sometimes

Yes he gave away a free, but he wasn't to blame for the goal, that was O'Shea and Howard.

Yeah so he has made mistakes, name me a player who hasn't

Sir Alex knows more about football than you or me, he doesn't want P. Neville to leave. He has been picked by successive England managers.

Looks like Giggs may be on his way Link

Re: [Merged] Football talk

It would be sad to see him go after 14 years but I think he's past his sell-by date.

However he'll probably get his second wind at Newcastle like Mark Hughes did when he left for Chelsea 10 years ago and end up showing his old form again :D

Re: [Merged] Football talk

Actually, I think you can be at one place to long, a change is as good as a rest so it is said.

Good luck to him whatever the outcome is, but obviously he will leave eventually, maybe now is the time for a new face.

And in an Andy Gray style pun remember Chelseas form is temporary but Arsenals class is permanent. :D

Am I just being paranoid or does anyone else find the fact that no Premiership sides have been drawn together a little suspicious, what are the odds on that?

BTW you dont have to answer my first question. :p:

Re: [Merged] Football talk

after Wenger's comments about Nistelrooy i wonder what he thought of the dive Pires took to win the free kick.. Think a draw was a fair result but once again Arsenal got lucky.. For all the ref knew when he said the free kick could have been taken quickly half the chelsea team could have been off the pict changing boots or getting treatment.. he never looked round to size up where everyone was he just looked at Henry and said do you want to take it

He doesn't have to check if they were ready. A free kick is there to benefit the team fouled, if the other team isn't ready then thats their fault.

Gudjonsson should have stayed where he was.
