Big centre tv? I can hardly contain the excitement. Still some people may be pleased to have it. I do wish the focus would be on launching the main stream and hd channels we are still missing.
I dont know the complexitys of testing to launch but it seems to be quite a long time.

You shouldn't read too much into these tests. As we know from previous tests, the purpose of them are to test the video and audio quality of the transport streams.

You might recall when History HD was "testing" a few years ago and we all thought that was going to launch then..... it didn't.

There would be no testing stopped because a broadcaster has pulled out, the two things are not linked. Tests go on all the time and if you were to believe the hyperbole from VM, talks are ongoing all the time, which of course they're not.

If deals have been done with a broadcaster, the channels would launch. We'd get no warning, either way.

We have seen Eurovision tests on one of them.

Other one is from BT.

FIFA Women's World Cup is also being shown live on the Beeb this summer.

UEFA under 17 Football is on Eurosport with Under 20s on BT Sport.

We now think that AUDIO ENGLISH DD test has become one of the new Red Button channels.

surely virgin media already have bt under contract for another year so we'll get it for free?? or will bt squirm their way out of it and demand more money?

how depressing.

This thread continues to frustrate me. Absolutely pointless channels testing. Nothing which would cost VM too much money due to arrive. Bring back 2013. A fine year on this place!

Well Vince, look on the bright side. With Sky Arts 2 and Sky Living It going down, maybe there will be enough money in the VM vaults for another Sky channel that is currently denied to us.

On the face of it, this sounds like an improvement for the remaining Sky Arts channel that will be broadcasting on 9 June. I hope the new content doesn't disappoint.

1,000 hours of VOD content, new EPG slot for new Sky Arts

As it ramps up its on-demand offerings across its entire portfolio, the UK's leading pay-TV provider is to launch Sky Arts with over 1,000 hours of dedicated programming and a new EPG place.

Claiming to reflect the way customers consume content, and representing a 'step change in the channel's ambition', Sky Arts On Demand will not only offer customers over 1,000 hours of dedicated arts programming, but will also introduce exclusive new on-demand only content, commissioned or acquired especially for the service.

The channel will now move up the electronic programme guide (EPG), where it will consolidate into a single 'super channel,' to reflect an overall programming budget increase of 10%. "At Sky we believe the arts are for everyone ... We know that a lot of our content appeals to genre enthusiasts, and the feedback from our customers tells us that they want to find the stuff they love in one place," commented Sky Arts director Philip Edgar-Jones. "With that in mind, we have looked at our offering to make sure customers can more easily find the content they are passionate about. With our new on-demand service alongside what we think is the strongest line-up of programmes yet, we think the new look Sky Arts will genuinely offer something for everyone."
