Hi Alan have you tried a RAM test.

I'd be inclined to run a full virus scan. Invisible processes can gobble up RAM.

What's it like running in safe mode?

So you know it is a driver or software issue then, try running your browser in safe mode for a day and report back.

Found the issue.

The Aura Asus software was creating over 2 Million handles in the Task Manager, i had posted on another forum to and someone pointed it out.

I uninstalled the software and system instantly improved. I will now keep an eye on it for a day or so and report back.

I found years ago that the more 'bells, whistles and flashing pretty lights' you have running, the greater the chance for problems to occur.

What works fine on one system may well crash a different one, you never really know until . . . ;)

What id like to know tho is the ins and outs of what handles actually are.

Re: [Update] Windows 10 Discussion

I don't know in the later windows but under DOS and earlier windows there was a DOS services function call "Open file with handle" The handle was then used whenever that file was accessed.

Just looked it up and it's still the same.

Handles allow interaction with certain kernel resources. If a process starts spamming them the kernel starts to slow down. Which also happens when the hard drive is failing.

The handles are mainly there so the kernel can track who is using what.

I'm not silly enough to install it right away, so will wait a few days to see how it goes with other people.

Well in for a penny in for a pound?
Now on ver 1903, took all of afternoon to download/install.
Time will tell how happy I am with the whole experience.

 I decided to let auto update install V1903 last night. Big mistake, after a couple of hours it froze at ‘Getting things ready 93%’ and I finally had to shut down PC and go to bed.

This morning if I open settings/ update it is still showing 93% but even left like that for an hour nothing changes. Anything I try to run will either not open or freeze.:(
