Simenon "committed" to Cup bid.

Connections of Simenon are "committed" in their pursuit of the Emirates Melbourne Cup - even though the talented stayer is not yet guaranteed a place in the final line-up.

The six-year-old gelding, runner-up in both the Ascot Gold Cup and the Lonsdale Cup at York this season, has been allotted 8st 6lb for the world's richest handicap at Flemington on November 5.

Longchamp run key to Intello plans.

Quote:

Andre Fabre will decide whether Intello ends his season in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe or the Qipco Champion Stakes after he runs in the Prix du Prince d'Orange at Longchamp.

The Prix du Jockey Club winner met with defeat when racing back over a mile in the Prix Jacques le Marois and steps back up to 10 furlongs on Saturday.

Planteur on path to Breeders' Cup

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...9;+Cup&day=Wed

Quote:

Planteur will head to the Prix Dollar next before an ambitious crack at the Breeders' Cup Classic.

Marco Botti's six-year-old was a comfortable winner of the Group Three Winter Hill Stakes at Windsor having previously chased home Maxios in the Prix d'Ispahan back in May.

That form was franked at the weekend when Maxios ran out an easy winner of the Prix du Moulin, and Planteur has proved by finishing third in the last two Dubai World Cups that on his day he is a top-class performer.

Abbaye on Abandon agenda.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Thu

Quote:

Clive Cox is hopeful Reckless Abandon will be ready to return to the fray in the Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp on October 6.

The Lambourn trainer reports the three-year-old colt to be over the hamstring problem that prevented him from running in the Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock earlier this month.

"Obviously we were disappointed he didn't run at Haydock. He has responded well to treatment and I'm pleased he's moving forward. The time that it has taken to get him back on the right road I'm still hopeful he may make the Abbaye, but in the scheme of things it's still a little bit early to commit," said Cox.

Margarson hoping for dry spell.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Fri

Quote:

George Margarson is praying for an Indian summer so he can give Lucky Kristale the chance of Group One glory in the Connolly's Red Mills Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday week.

The trainer dearly wants to run the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes and Lowther winner in the six-furlong championship race for two-year-old fillies, but would love to see warm and dry conditions.

"She did a good bit of work on Wednesday. That will be it. She won't do any more work," Margarson told At The Races.

Cirrus back to winning ways

Quote:

Cirrus Des Aigles returned to the winner's enclosure with victory in the La Coupe de Maisons-Laffitte.

Sent swiftly to the front by Christophe Soumillon, the Corine Barande-Barbe-trained gelding set just a steady pace through the early stages before being asked a few questions by Smoking Sun.

The pair went head-to-head from a furlong and a half out but Soumillon's mount asserted in the closing stages to win a shade cosily from Valley Jem, with Smoking Sun eventually third.

Pinzolo books Trophy ticket.

Charlie Appleby has a second juvenile colt primed for Group One challenges after the encouraging victory of Pinzolo in the Haynes, Hanson & Clark Conditions Stakes at Newbury.

A week ago the trainer celebrated his biggest prize since taking over Godolphin's Moulton Paddocks from the disgraced Mahmoud Al Zarooni when Outstrip came out ahead in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster.

Buck's pencilled in for January

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...anuary&day=Fri

Quote:

Paul Nicholls is hoping to have Big Buck's ready for action at the end of January.

The four-times World Hurdle winner claimed the Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury last December on what turned out to be his only start of the season after he suffered a leg injury, but Nicholls reports the 10-year-old to be well on the way back to full fitness now, with another World Hurdle on the cards next March.

New owners Qatar Racing, who bought her from trainer Henry Candy after she won a six-furlong maiden at Glorious Goodwood, are hoping she might be good enough to warrant going for the Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket next month

Sound claims for Godolphin in Mile

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Sat

Quote:

Godolphin's Sound Reflection has been supplemented for Friday's Shadwell Fillies' Mile at Newmarket.

Fellow Godolphin runner Ihtimal is a leading light for the Group One event after winning the Sweet Solera and May Hill Stakes for trainer Saeed bin Suroor.

However, the Charlie Appleby-trained Sound Reflection gives the owners a second string to their bow following victories at Newmarket and Kempton.

Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Rizeena is still in the frame for Clive Brittain along with Ascot winner Stealth Missile.
