Re: Cricket

New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by 99 runs in the first match, and as I type this England have a target of 300 to win, could be more in a few minutes time as Australia still have 4 wickets left.

Nice hat trick to end, but a massive total of 343 needed to win. Congratulations Australia on the win.

Re: Cricket

Well we have no chance because every time it comes down to the last 10 overs we seem to go for 100 runs at least and that's not simply good enough in one day cricket.

Re: Cricket

From what I saw of the innings, England looked to be playing like it was a Test match and that strategy doesn't work in ODI cricket. Doubt batting first would have made a difference to the outcome anyway.

Re: Cricket

The sad thing is Mark is we are light years behind in how the one day game is played now and sadly we saw that against Australia today.

Re: Cricket

Look how useless we were between winning the Ashes in 1987 (I think) and then winning it again in 2005. There are cycles and unfortunately it is England's turn to be rubbish in cricket.

Once you get used to winning though it hurts to lose. Chin up England, let's get back to winning ways in our next game against New Zealand. Although the way they played against Sri Lanka makes me think that only against Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Scotland will be easy wins for us.

Re: Cricket

l would not bet on us beating those last three as l remember our losses to Ireland and Holland several years ago Mark.
