Leading owners Middleham Park Racing are confident of finally breaking their Group One duck as the exciting Toormore heads to Ireland for today's Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes at the Curragh.

The winner of a Leicester maiden before claiming Group Two honours in the Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, Richard Hannon's juvenile was something of a surprise contender for this weekend's seven-furlong prize when the entries were released on Monday.

Voleuse romps to Irish Leger glory

Tim Palin, racing manager for Middleham Park, said "We weren't sure whether to make the running or not beforehand but he ended up getting a fairly uncontested lead. He's a great attitude and the further he goes the better he is.

The legendary trainer died after a long and dignified battle against cancer on June 11 and had a private family funeral at St Agnes Church in Newmarket. His body was laid to rest at his ancestral seat of Crathes Castle in Aberdeenshire.

A fitting tribute to a great man.
