Meanwhile sky's most exclusive show is Game of Thones this is highest illegally downloaded program.

Should we blame Sky for this because if it was readily available people would tape it on their v+ and tivo stbs and not download it illegally?

I must say, I would have thought that more people would view it than do, and I don't understand why this is not the case.

Yes, but what about the rest of the Sky Atlantic programming? This receives a negligible audience share. You are only talking about this one programme when referring to 1.1m people watching.

I'd think you could probably make similar arguments about most/all pay channels?

What is also slightly disturbing is the amount of 'free' publicity GOT (and by extension, SA) has been getting from the BBC since the start of series 4. Even HM the Queen has given it a plug!

Yes, I see your point, but considering all the hype, Sky Atlantic receives a very low audience figure overall and does not compare favourably with other pay channels.

I think you are being a little unfair, Dave, it is better than Sky 1. However, it is correct to say there is a lot of junk in between the good programmes and daytime SA is not worth watching!

I'm sure you're right but do you have any figures to reinforce this view?

Viewing figures are one thing, but Sky said last year that Atlantic drives something like a quarter of all new subscriptions. Just because they don't watch it once they've got it doesn't mean there's no sense in Sky keeping it exclusive.
