My bug is paying the same rate for a lesser service.
What that speed is does not interest me.However I do object to people getting X speed for £Y `s when I pay the same but get X speed halved. If you charge by speed, deliver or compensate the people that you have failed to supply it to.

Except they've not failed to supply the speed you signed up for - you are still getting it. What has changed is that the tier has had an increase since you signed up, which is something you can/will also get.

Does not make me feel better, paying the same for a lesser service than other people are getting. However you spin it :erm:

Yet another case of Virgin and never, never, land. What are we looking at 14-15 months to deliver on a statement.

However mine has been pushed back. So why o why would I have any faith it it happening within that time scale. It certainly does not negate the point that for 15 months I will in effect be subsidising other customers. That is if higher speeds in fact cost more , if they don`t why charge more for them.

Which ever way you try to spin it I am out of pocket -so to speak .:(

Go to a shop buy a piece of cake (That is cut in to four pieces) for a £1 the next customer gets two pieces for a £1 the third that also get one for his £1 so a whole cake is selling for £3 . two @ a £1 for some customers one for others I call that subsidising. :confused:

That isn't a correct comparison. Everyone that bought the same 'cake' at the same time as you are getting the same size for the same price.

Virgin didn't have to offer it's existing customers an automatic upgrade. They could have restricted it to new customers and upgrading customers only, and when there are complaints like this I sometimes wish they had as it would be less complicated.

Sorry Ben, but I was told originally that I would be upgraded sometime between April and June. Then they changed this to July. Then I was told that a problem I had would be sorted when I was upgraded to 120mb by 29th August at the latest. Now I am being told October.

Yes they did have to, because many customers would have gone to BT Infinity. Which is something I personally am tempted to do if VM don't get their act together, and stop making excuses.

What??

You sign up for a package and that's your contracted deal. You are not out of pocket.

I have to agree with you Stephen.

However the fact remains that VM publicised the speed doubling far too early. I presume this was to put people off changing to BT. And now VM have egg on their face. THey did tell customers that they would be getting more for their money. Yet all those paying the highest tariff (who were going to get the least anyway) have so far got no boost at all.

Yet those paying the highest tariff (100Mb) was never promised speed doubling but only a 20% increase after the speed doubling was finished, what they did get though was a reduction in costs down to that the 50>100XXL contract pricing before even a small proportion of the speed doubling was accomplished. So in respect the highest tiers got their bonus before most people got their speed doubling.

I don't post often but once I found that my speed wasn't doubling for another 6 months this is what i posted on the Virgin forum:


Why is it that there isn't a set rate for Broadband especially when people are out of contract.

I was previously paying £27.50 for Broadband only, and around January time I was informed that my package would be upgraded free of charge by July (hopefully), and I would be getting 60mb. Only a few days later I was told my package was going up by £2.50, package what package I only have, and only want broadband. I thought nothing of it as I would soon be getting double the speed.
Now when checking on the on line checker I am informed it will not happen until Dec possibly Feb next year, however I see that the current price for broadband only 30mb is £22.50 and for 60mb £27.50, how can this be right when I am being charged £30?
Surely I should be getting 30mb for less than what I am currently being charged? How can I have a price hike for something that others are getting both cheaper and better speeds?


Basically told to phone Virgin and moan. And they can't keep tabs on what people are paying once outside contract. My gripe is they made such a big thing about upgrade, didn't deliver, and now are re-advertising yet again. How can we be sure we will get this upgrade in the new allotted time? And surely they must know who is paying what, surely there must be some record on their data bases? And yes I know it wasn't a cast iron guarantee, but I took them at their word (Fool).

I didn't say that 100mb was going to be doubled. But there is still no sign of the promised increase.

As for the price. I didn't get any reduction until I called them and increased my bundle. Then for 4 months I had problems with my BB, with one excuse after another.

I call it "you haven't had your speed increase yet".

Unfortunately, VM cannot yet just wave a magic wand, or throw a switch, and upgrade everyone's speed instantly at the time. Some have to be first and some have to be last. That's just the way it works.
