Weren`t the teams, Man u especially reading from the same script?

Now i`m a Man City fan so you would naturally come to the conclusion that i wanted Barcelona to win....

Not so... "What, why, how could you" i hear non MU fans cry, well for the simple reason that i respect what Mr Fergeuson has done at Utd and would of loved it (i`m sure i`ve heard that before;)) if as being the representitive of the premier league in this showcase game they could have put messrs` Blatter, Platini plus cronies firmly in there place.

But what happened? this was not the same team that we normally see, it was the same players but my they looked proper dodgy!
Anderson was a complete and utter disgrace, in fact the united midfield where at large "missing in action". Park did his usual running around a lot but not actually getting anywhere, Carrick kept trying to play the wonder pass and Giggs was a non-entity....
Things only seemed to change when Teves was brought on, at least he didn`t look like a rabbit in the headlights whenever Barcelona had the ball and was prepared to get stuck in, albeit sometimes miscalculated.

Was this a tactical masterpiece by Pep Guardiola? i don`t think so, after Barcelona scored Man u lost all cohesion and basically looked a bit like the England team, 11 players who don`t play together often.

Regarding the commentary.......well what a complete and utter load of tosh!
"Messi is having one of those outstanding games"............WHAT!!!!!, apart from scoring what was a superb header(defence close down the ball, midfield players, mark the opposition) i didn`t see that many outstanding moments, save for one shot and a couple of half runs.

All in all it was a dreadful game, only one team turned up and the other was so shocked that they weren`t being given a game they just cruised it.

Ah well next year it will be differant, Man City will be in the final, Robinho will score a hat-trick of superb team goals and Pamela Anderson will be on the left wing naked...(oops sorry that was me dreaming last night);)

That's about a good a summary as I have seen. Can't agree more.

Just what I was trying to say last night. Everyone saying how fantastic Barca were, and it simply wasn't so. Better than us, definately...but fantastic, I think not.

I think people are not giving the credit Barcelona deserved. Trying to claim United lost simply because they did not play well is a discredit to Barcelona because United did turn up. Look at the first 10 minutes, it's just once Barcelona started playing they prevented United from playing the well they are used too.

United didn't play well because they did not know how to handle Barcelona, their normal way of playing was not allowed and they were not permitted a lot of time on the ball.

That's what I thought. Man U didn't get the chance to play well because they hardly saw anything of the ball. The credit for that goes to Barca.

Barca didn't have to get out of second gear to win the game. I don't think that was down to them play brilliantly. I think they played better against Chelsea - they're passing wasn't as slick yesterday (they did have some moments but it wasn't throughout the game). I do think the Utd players were phased more by the occassion and atmosphere in Rome, rather than because it was Barca in front of them.

3 seperate quotes by me, giving Barca credit for being better than us. I don't see what's so difficult to understand here.

I can`t agree with the argument United didn`t play well because they didn`t have the ball. In the last few meetings between the teams, plus Chelsea in this years semi final they have set up to let Barcelona have the majority of the ball, then build a wall infront of the box which they have to penetrate.
When you do pick up the ball, hit em fast with the counter attack.
IMO this is where Fergie got his tactics all wrong (and missed Fletcher) in that he tried to go toe 2 toe with better technical players.

Fair play to Barcelona, they won fair and square but it was at a canter, maybe if Utd had played better Barca would have played even better and we would have seen a great footballing spectacle.

I don`t think it`s going to be remembered in years to come as the great final of 2009........but at least UEFA/FIFA are happy.

p.s. Man of the Match thoughts?----->For me Iniesta followed by Xavi.

I am saying that if United played really well they still would have lost to this Barcelona side playing exactly the same as they did last night. United need to ball to play. Barcelona didn't let them play, it doesn't matter what United did.

I don't thin the team selection helped either. We basically only had Carrick in midfield, Anderson has second season blues and has had a shocker all season. Park is too weak and no where near United quality, Giggs wandered too far upfield even though the ball wasn't getting that far and Rooney isn't a left winger. That only left Carrick so we never had the ball all night.

Now there is a pot calling kettle black.

Anyway I hear the number of swine flu cases has suddenly shot up in Italy, what with 50 000 mancs out there being pig sick.

There's that good old cockney wit. The master of mirth strikes again. I used to live not far from the Boleyn ground, and knew many West Ham "fans" including my ex girlfriend. Not one of them attended any of the matches, but they always had plenty to say. ;)

Funnily enough I live not far from the Boleyn ground and know plenty of manc fans round here who don't go to matches either, just ponces and glory hunters, they always have plenty to say to and like you it's rarely worth listening to, today is different though as there is not much better than listening to a bitter manc whine.

Are there any more bitter fans than West Ham? Gobby wide boys, with a bottle of Bud in one hand, and a circular saw blade in the other. If there are I've never met any. Sorry to bring up West Ham, by the way, I know you hardly ever talk about your own team very often. :D

The problem with United fans is that there are so many of them, everywhere! It doesn't matter what part of England you go too, you'll bump into a dozen or so United fans at least. All ready to gloat about their team, so yesterday was a welcome break :D

Some Barca fans couldn't handle their victory celebrations...
