I had the S3 on trial - I found it a little bit too large as a handset.

I'm the lone iPhone holdout in my team at work, everyone else has a galaxy 2 or 3. I lik them but they are a bit bulky. If the new iPhone gets up to their size I would lose one of the reasons for keeping out the gang. :)

I just switched from my iPhone (4) to a galaxy s2.

I was waiting for android to catchup with apples excellent built in accessibility.

Although I'm very happy with my s2, I'm still impressed with the iPhone.

I still have my iPod touch 32gb though so not entirely away from apple yet.

Help please

My Daughter is looking to get an iPhone 4s. The best deal found so far is a payment of £150 for the 16Gb handset then £27.00 per month for 24 months on the 3 network giving 300 min talk time 5000 Texts and unlimited data.

She is with Orange/T-mobile and the signal is total rubbish on part of the Kent uni campus she is on, she has to go to the top of the computer science block to get a signal. So that network is off the card.

Any thoughts or suggestions.

Is it going to be in her name? The reason I ask is my ex is in university and she managed to wrangle a 20% student discount from Vodafone for my 4S.

I get 900 minutes, unlimited texts and 750mb of data as well as 2GBs of free BT OpenZone wifi access. The phone (16gb) was free and should have been £41 per month but with the discount it's £32.86, 24 month contract.

I went to Kent! I presume you mean Darwin? Not sure you'll have much on any network in that building. You best part is, if you have access to a unlocked phone, getting a pay as you go sim card from each prospective network and see how you get on with reception on each of them.

I did have an iPhone 3gs years ago but after a Pre and settling with android I have had an S2 and now the S3. Its certainly not bulky, although its got a mighty big screen its really light and pretty thin. Even now trying to use an S2 I feel its too small in my hands lol.

From what I have seen of the possible New iPhone, it doesn't look great at all. I'd definately consider the S3. Its soon to get the Jelly Bean update as well.

Thanks for your input, only problem is cost. The new iPone 5 will be in excess of £40 per month with not much airtime given or data and the airtime providers will have stock of the 4S which they will want to move to make room for the new iPhone 5 so My thoughts are to get one now as the 4s is still a good smartphone.

Regarding Kent Uni it now has quite big accommodation blocks added. I wonder if they will be able to fill them now the cost of one years tuition is £9,000ish. My daughter is lucky as they are paying her fees and paying a Stipendiary payment plus teaching fees.

I know 5 years ago when Jen started she was in Darwin. I thought that was the accommodation block and the O2 network was total rubbish while Orange worked ok so I don't know what Orange are doing to have such a rubbish signal on Campus now and as we know the iPhone is not as good at picking up a signal. Our daughter is a Research Student (PhD) and Assistant Lecturer at the school of Computing (Cornwallis) Thats where her Orange phone does not work unless she goes to the top floor.

Thanks for the input and yes it will be in her name but I can't find any company that gives a student discount. We have it down to £27 for 24 Months plus a one off charge of £150. The only problem its with the 3 Network

I doubt that prices of the 4S will fall before the 5 is released.

I don't know about the networks, but Apple itself doesn't keep huge stocks of things. It turns around its entire inventory quite quickly.

IMO, if prices of the 4S are to fall it will happen after the release of the 5 (much like the price of earlier models fell when the 4S was released, and so on...).

I was lucky in that I started the year before the orignal fees were first brought in, so had a grant & loan all the way through with no fees at all. If I were going now, I think the current fees would definitely put me off! :(

She only managed to get the discount by calling them up, have you tried that? They have different offers from the stores.

And yes, the phone signal on campus was always very poor...

Ha, another! :D

I went so long ago, it was before I even had a mobile phone. Don't think anyone I knew there had one either!
