Oh right cheers well i suppose i will find out on Wednesday ;)

Does the box have a fan or not? I would of thought it does as vents are not normally enough to keep them cool.

No it doesn't. The combination of the vents and the power supply being outside the box are enough

To answer your previous question, the hard drive never turns off. All 3 tuners buffer 24/7.

As others have said, it is so quiet. Much better than the V+

Have I, once again (as I have come to expect from VM) been diddled?

Cheers

What package are you on!
Should be included if you are on VIP50

I wouldn't keep more than two boxes even if I could for free as I just don't have space/need for more power sapping devices. One up, one down is enough for our house. I'd welcome a waived £3 and £6.50 fee certainly if I upgrade. But then, I'd never upgrade for 2 x £149 upfront as it's too much when I have already invested in 2 x V+ boxes. I'd like a little bit of a sweeter deal for loyal high spending customers. Just my opinion, I know others will say I'm cheap.

I may have missed what package you're currently on, but swapping out my 2 x V+ boxes on my VIP50 package actually saved me £10 a month (extra V+ fee) and brought the price back down to 100.55. We then added the extra HD channels to the additional TiVo box since it was still less than what we were paying.

Yes, the 2x £149 upfront fee is a big hit, but we had budgeted for it.

Hope this helps

Has anyone heard anything about the general availability of Tivo to new subscribers? DF was saying it was going to be today, but I can't see any sign of it.

I'm not a VM customer at the moment (I'm on Sky+HD), but I want to switch. I "registered my interest" in Tivo at the start of March, but I've heard nothing from VM since.

I originally had SA V+ in the bedroom - got used to the noise, but could still hear it. Replaced recently with a Samsung when the SA went bang, much quieter, but could still hear the fan whirring if I listened or if it was really quiet.

I can't say I've heard anything at all from the TiVo in there from Friday.

Never hear a sound from the Tivo.

There is only a dim red light when it's on standby. My SA V+ is now illuminating the bedroom. To be fair the street lights easily out do it!

Is there a recommended way to search for music videos? If you select the letter of the artist you just get a long list that you have to navigate downwards one by one.

I guess it's the same in the TV guide, can you scroll down page by page?

Yes, it is generally available from today. You'll be sent an email this week, but you should be able to call up and book installation now.

Just about to call to place an order..

trying to get the pricing straight in my head.

Am currently ViP50 100.55 pm

My thinking is I should get Tivo and be able to move my V+HD to replace
the Box at no extra monthly charges.
Just paying the 149.99 Tivo charge.

does that seem right?

All installed ok, although with a bit of a freeze when the installer was trying to show me how the TV guide worked. A quick reboot and back up and running. Still getting used to it so will comment more later.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Hi All

Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as me, i pre reg'd in December, and got my ordering email last tuesday which i completed and sent straight back by about 11am that day with my two favoured install slots. i then received an email the next day stating that they had my order but would be in touch "very soon" to confirm installation slot the first of which i had chosen was this saturday 23rd April . Since then i have heard nothing :( i rang 150 on Friday to check if there were any details and CS informed me there was nothing showing on my account but she was happy to add a note to my account to ensure i did not lose my mates rates discount.

I have been on the virgin media support forums today and had the same response from one of the moderators that nothing is showing up on my account yet for tivo so they cannot advise me. I am starting to feel frustrated as other seem to have been sorted and many customers have rung up and been given an install date there and then ( i know i know its only a box...;) ) I am starting to think i have somehow gone awol in the system

Anyone else having this issue or is it just me

Chris
