I'm being optimistic for once instead of negative haha.

I'm with you in this, the only downside is if they do stick on red button it's not HD unless the red button is a HD feed

I guess it all depends whether they are likely to get more with individual VM subscriptions than with a wholesale deal in partnership with VM.

Base on info I saw last week on Digital Spy Forum both BT Sport Extra 1 and TruTV are testing as of September 7th.

You let your hatred for all things Sky cloud your judgement on too many occasions , look at the facts

BT is paying £299 million a season over 3 years nearly double the previous contract

BT has shareholders just the same as BSKYB meaning they want to see maximim return on these rights

BT currently offers BT Sport free to VM XL customers or free to any customer taking its BB offering on either BT TV or the Sky Satellite platform

Can you realistically see no additional cost once the champions league contract kicks in ? I'm sure BT will look to increase revenue across all its viewers , I'm sure agreements will be reached but in my opinion people will be paying more.

BT are telling Sky Viewers to press Red when on BT Sport 1 for BT Sport Extra 1, BT Sport Extra 1 will launch on Friday with Football from France.

On Sky it costs them extra for another EPG listing, which is probably not worth it for the odd overflow game.

On VM I expect that they'll have a proper EPG listing; thus enabling the possibility of recording ;)

The carriage contract may or may not cover the launch of any new channels- I don't know the details on this one. Anybody else know?

understand all this and agree with most but playing devils advocate for one moment...lets remember its not as if BT are getting nothing from VM. isnt it like 4 quid for every person on XL goes to BT? Which admittedly is weak and low but they are getting a return currently.

The champions league kicks in next year maybe BT would see the advantage of running the VM contract down for one more year showcasing all their "unmissable sport" to entice VM customers to subscribe from the year after??

The crucial fact is that none of us knows what was in the three-year contract which BT and VM signed in August 2013. VM could have signed an agreement to include all new contracts and channels or there could have been exclusions; we simply don't know. How much the Champions League costs BT is not directly relevant; it's what's in the contract between BT and VM that matters.

After reading my post back I agree , I caused confusion by saying once the champions league kicks in , VM's contract runs past this so nothing may change until them terms expire.

My original point stands though I expect us all regardless of platform or BB provider to have to pay a little more going forward thats not to say I'm of the opinion it won't be included in XL however I'm of the view BT will be looking for more money when contracts are up , all pure speculation on my behalf though.

I only meant that BT may not play the silly tricks that Sky are renowned for, like denying red button and HD facilities.

I don't 'hate' Sky, who have done wonders for British TV, I just don't like some of their underhand tactics.

A lot of companies increasingly use underhand tactics OB so we can't just apply those tactics to Sky.

My only gripe with Sky was their dreadful broadband service which my parents had signed up to but thankfully they have now changed supplier.

If Virgin want more money from me for BT having CL football then they can ram it, imo the CL is becoming a bore fest, UEFA need to change the way the tournament is run to bring in more teams, it's the same old, same old every year.
