Exactly as they might not have got their prize this time but will no doubt in time get what they want.

If VM want to provide the BT sports channels on their XL package, I have no doubt that this is what VM will do. BT will set the price, but surely it is up to VM how they package this for their viewers.

BT will want VM to be taking BT Sports because they have considerable costs to recoup and I don't think their shareholders will be very pleased if they missed an opportunity to offset those costs by having the channel on another platform.

As for 'selling' any price increase to VM customers, maybe that's what the latest price hike was all about!

I'm really hoping for the ITV channels in HD! I already get STV HD, so having at least ITV2 HD will be a bonus for me :)

Fingers crossed anyway.

How much of a cut do you honestly think Netflix are willing to give up on a subscription that costs £5.99 , I'm sure the profit margins aren't massive too start with.

They would charge wholesale prices, and VM may even add charges of their own. For the convenience of having all this on the TIVO box, it would be worth it.

If BT Sports are to be on offer to us as a subscription, the money they save on the ESPN arrangements as part of the XL pack could just be diverted to make a Netflix deal possible.

There are various ways that VM could make this a viable proposition that would attract customers to its platform and prevent existing customers from leaving. I hope that this all becomes clear by the time BT Sports starts broadcasting.

.

I don't see that as the case. You can get neat, small form factor media players from around £60 upwards that will do Netflix. Netflix is on many new blueray players and TVs, so I don't understand why people are hanging around, waiting for netflix to be added to Tivo.

But also, and a very important consideration, Netflix really comes into it's own when used with a service such as Unblockus, which allows access to the other netflix regions' catalogue. You won't be able to use the unblockus type service on a Netflix Tivo app.

Got to agree. I've got access to Netflix and Lovefilm via my smart TV, my blu-ray player, my Wii, my Xbox, my PC, my iPad and my mobile. I know not everyone will have these options however most homes in the UK do have access to at the very least one if not two of these devices.

If the rumours are true ITV2 HD will be launching soon on Virgin Media.

(Still waiting for an insider to confirmed if true or not)

Ahh I get it. Those of us that don't want a TiVo have to pay for those who do. There may be various ways that VM could make it a viable proposition, but that isn't one of them.

So because you don't want TiVo, VM should not do any deals for us that do have one. That sounds fair. I don't like sport but I don't say ESPN should not be in the XL pack because I don't want it.

Netflix should not be given any money by Virgin, nor would they setup a new business model other than the brilliant £6 flat rate.

Like with the European 3DS, if Netflix had any intention of porting their US app they would have done so by now.
