BT has been privatised for around 25 years so I think there should come a time when they are treated like any other private company, maybe now is a bit soon though. |
Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010) Vol. IV
VDSL will be exclusive to BT. Sky will only have the old copper wire network. Ok for now, but will not be fit for 2012.

They would still be responsible for the network, but without any real profit. It wouldn't be good for competition as it would lead to the downfall of the cable network. IMO. |

I think that might just slightly be over egging it myself! In time I would welcome VM to be forced to allow competitors access to their network, maybe once they have finally haulled themselves out of debt. |

Debt isn't bad, in fact I'd argue it's vital to the well running of any company. You can often gain a far greater return on cash at hand than you're having to pay in debt interest, so why would you pay down debt if doing so will make you less money? (Not to mention that having debt allows you to avoid all sorts of taxes). |

But if you didn't have the cash to invest in the infrastructure (which enables you to get more customers, which in turn increases your cash-flow), the only way is debt.
It's how nearly everyone buys a house - they don't wait until they have saved all the money up. |
