Why should anyone? Stick with SD if you don't wanna pay the extraaaa, it's only a couple of channels anyway don't see the point unless you sub to movies

Yeah you can switch to 'XL Plus' which is VIP without sports and movies i think

People are going on about bad deal for xl bad deal for VIP my thinking Is this it's an awful deal for sky sports only subscribers. Seven pounds for movies and sports in HD isn't to bad but 7.00 for two channels is taking the ****. The end result will be football fans back to Sky in there droves.

Premium HD has always been free with Virgin. ESPN HD is certainly a premium channel and was added at no cost to XL / VIP customers. I think this is why so many people are angry at this sudden change policy from Virgin. Making SKY Movies HD and SKY Sports HD avaliable to it's customers should have been a great moment for Virgin but instead it's turning into a nightmare. I think the upset customers out number the happy ones by a 10 to 1.

It doesn't matter how many times Virgin try to explain it away, the HD is free advertising campaign will bite them in the bum big time. Too many people feel misled. It's certainly not going to improve customer loyalty.

Howardmicks has already said Sky had geared up for this by offering discounts on Sky World . It's the old David vs Goliath. More people now have HDTV now. You can see Skys next move of dropping the HD charge.

When Sky drop the HD charge - The only thing keeping me with Virgin is the fact Sky have call out fees of up to Â£50 were you get them free on Virgin.
