Re: Football : Season 08/09

I have just watched a game that Man Utd, supposed to be the best team there is, totally outplayed, outclassed, and beaten by a world class side, Man Utd, had a strike force of Rooney, Ronaldo and then Berba on that pitch, don't make me laugh, they were poor, pathetic - they had no fire power whatsoever. To me they didn't want to win, whereas Barca did.

With a man as ineffective as him on the team he's actually a hinderance.

Reminded me of how Arsenal went out (to United), just no fight. There was the early goal and then United scrambled around with no idea what to do against Barca, who always looked in control.

Better team won, a goal against the run of play totally changed the game. I wouldn't say we were outclassed, just beaten by an all round better side, we always ran the risk of conceeding the second by pushing forward so much and we just couldn't take the chances we made. Still with a young squad they can learn from this and push on next season.

 Absolutely battered us

Started the day with a security lock kicking in on my Credit card, then that, and to cap it all off, it's persisting it down outside, I didn't realise, and now my TV is wet through.

At least the commentator on ITV is happy

Indeed, there is no shame in finishing runners up though...

It isn't really a young squad with an average age of 29.

Apart from the first 10 it was always Barca's game TBH. They played so well. Brilliant Win.

Josep Guardiola - 38 years old, 2nd season in management; La Liga, Copa del Rey, Champions League, the first treble in Spanish history. Incredible.

And at last Thierry Henry gets a Champions League medal. Sadly, he clearly made the right decision in leaving us.

Well that's because of players like VDS who's about 36, Giggs who's 35 and Scholes who's about 33, pushing the average age up, the core of the squad is still young and the players i've mentioned already have replacements at the club who are young and are learning from experiances like tonight.

Yes well done to him, but to be fair he didn't really inherit a bad side that needed a lot doing to it, but fair play to him, he's done exceptionally well.

So outclassed then. :)

For 80 mins Manu were outclassed. Also the behaviour of Ronaldo and Scholes didn't help at all.

How long was Scholes on the pitch before he got booked?

It's a shame 'cos I wanted to see Platini crying at another English triumph.

But those inexperienced and younger players weren't playing, the older, more skilful and experienced squad was.

I'm a scouser, and there isn't any shame finishing runner up...did better than the team I support did this season.
