I'm actually stunned that 1Mbit is going to be "unlimited" - with whatever reservations are actually applied!

I considered 512k unlimited to be a damn good deal at that price point.

I was expecting them to roll out 512k, 1M and 2M unlimited, at the price points also covered by 1M (with a bit more than 3Gb), 10M low quota and 10M high quota.

The lowest tier MUST be 1Mbit or less, of course, otherwise they'd have to replace all the old PACE STB broadbands with Samsung or cablemodem - perhaps that's why it's so generous to the lowest tier, as they don't want the installation cost of upgrading to many of the lowest tier users, many of whom won't actually turn into download junkies overnight.

27th November Two to Simulcast

From Digital Spy

BBC Two will be simulcast via broadband from next year, channel controller Roly Keating has confirmed.

Earlier this year the corporation announced that it would be making one of its main stations available over the internet as part of a drive to increase content availability over new media platforms.

We will start at the website - upgrade that and move it in to broadband, Keating confirmed at Broadcast's commissioning conference in Manchester. We want to have as full a service as possible.

The BBC is also trialling the BBC iMP, an on-demand service that allows viewers to download recently-aired programmes to their home computers.
Found this tonight, looks like NTL 10mb customers will get to see only a couple of hours of programmes this way and then I expect we will have reached the cap!

With caps in place I just can't see this kind of innovation taking off in the UK

The news of the 2mb becoming uncapped is great. At the same time I was looking forward to 2mb being upgraded to 10mb for free, with the monthly payments remaining the same - I cannot afford to pay more!

Does the announcement of the 2mb uncapped mean that 2mb users will no longer be upgraded to 10mb over the course of the coming year?

From how I readd it, you will have a choice of 2MBit uncapped or 10MBit capped for 24.99/month

I received a sales flyer yesterday trying to get me to sign up to other NTL products as it would mean better savings or something like that. There was a line in it which mentioned 'free upgrade to 10mb' next year on the broadband service as being another reason to stick with NTL. I couldn't find any small print or anything else which went into more detail - So I assume the plan is still to upgrade the remaining 2 tiers to 10mb next year otherwise it wouldn't have said 'next year' and it would have been specific about the tier.

Ah, the humble sales flyer - that bastion of capitalism that can tell a myriad of lies to suck people in and then be put down to a printing error when said promises don't materialise.

Better than the Bulldog 8meg for £9.99 flyer I got, mentions you have to have their phone service (but no price stated), then when I put the flyer under the electron microscope I noticed at the bottom of the flyer the 1gig Month cap.
No wonder there is a long queue waiting to join, how many people do you know with an electron microscope.
