So he's criticising HMG for something he agreed with eh? Great!

Bit like George Osborne and the coalition criticising Labour for spending too much when he announced in 2007 that he wanted to spend more.

Stones, glass houses. Can we perhaps try not to keep it so virulently partisan? Feel like I'm in the United States watching someone spewing bile at the 'Libruls'.

Every opposition is guilty of going along with a whole bunch of stuff that, on hindsight, was a bad idea. They also then tend to try and use said SNAFUs against the government of the day in campaigns.

Someone I will happily abuse, however is Michael Gove.

I honestly don't understand the Tories' obsession with Ofsted. My wife has worked over 70 hours this week and will be doing more tomorrow. Much of it not for the benefit of the children but to be 'Ofsted ready'.

Tories used to be more liberal, Labour used to be more left-wing, now we just have varying degrees of authoritarian-right, all of which love to micro-manage things they know nothing about and all of which couldn't competently organise excessive drinking in a brewery.

But Ed initially agreed with the plan in 2011, and then commented today that he didn't believe the plan worked, and placed the blame on the Government - I was pointing out the disparity in his two statements, not making a partisan point.

Totally agree with you - my daughter gave up her PGCE 3/4s of the way through the course, as she said it was mostly admin, not teaching, and she wanted to teach kids, not be an administrator....

Re: General Election 2015: Voting intentions & general discussion

I wonder if the admin would/will be less under a different govt. Ever since I can remember there just seems to have been more of it...

and you think that our soldiers in Syria would be picking flowers?

BTW, the UK forces death toll is under 200 but let's not let facts get in the way of a good rant ..

Tony Blair and David Cameron both supported the war because they both felt it was the right thing to do but obviously not everybody feels it was the right decision which of course is their prerogative.

Well said

Doesn't everyone think this election is a bit lack lustre?

Ed has done alright in his media moments, better than expected but not great.

Dave seems to have taken a back seat, no real passionate debates or knockout speeches.

Clegg is just an annoying irrelevance and the Green leader, Natalie Bennett, just isn't up to the job.

A big disappointment is Farage: in the debates I have watched where I expected him to dominate, he failed to stand out.

but the biggest worry is the SNP Leader who is wooing the Labour vote with her more-left-than-labour policies but hides a not-so-secret agenda to engineer Scottish independence.

So in summary, as Private Frasier said "We're doomed .."

Sadly the choice out there is the worse it has been for quite a while and one suspects there will be plenty of thought when it comes to when people have to put their cross in a box on their polling slip for the candidate who is the least worst of a bad bunch.

That's 200 more than there should have been considering they died because Blair spouted lies. He should be arrested and tried for his crimes.

Indeed but would David Cameron have done any different if he was PM at the time?.
