On the other hand the built-in music player is massively, massively improved over the S2.

It's the first phone I've come across that can drive my SE535's so loud it's actually painful.

... And ordinary levels for me are already painful for most people.

Do I really need an s3? It's just a rectangle that does Internet, I already have a slightly smaller rectangle......

My mind says no but my heart says UPGRADE

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3

After the mild disappointment that was the S2, the S3 feels like everything the S2 should have been. OK, maybe that's a little unfair on the S2, since it was still a great phone. However the S3 fixes a lot of the faults with the S2. I see it more as a "bugfixed" S2 than a major upgrade.

Then again what works for you depends on what you have already. Also the S3's shape is "inspired by nature" and rather un-rectangular.

For most people, going from last year's flagship models to the S3 probably isn't worth the upgrade, but going from anything before that is a pretty big jump. Indeed, my S3 was technically an upgrade on my 2-year old HTC Desire 24-month contract. A lot of people will be coming up to the end of their 24-month contracts for HTC Desires/Galaxy S1's and for them IMO the upgrade is ideal.

I went up from iPhone 4 and it is a big jump. I had iPhone 3G before that. Like gas said it depends on the phone you had before

I love my s2, apart from battery life I prefer it to a 4s

Have you thought about bigger battery?..I just upped my galaxy nexus to a 3500 from a 1750...huge power boost...and bigger backside actually doesn't detract..bit more weight for holding

I got the Seido Innocell battery...gives you a new back cover...though mine is not perfect fit (very very slight rise at one point, but no biggie)

Most of the benefits are upcoming, though one main one right now is tweaking the RAM allocations a bit.

And being able to run various apps that require root. If you haven't come across one yet you probably don't need it.
