I can understand that people are dismayed by this.

But it seems like when you buy something (lets say a TV)? You pay £600 for the TV from the store and then 1 month later you see the exact same one for £500 in the same store? They would not be happy if you went in and asked for a refund for the difference in price?

Most people would have guessed that the price of the box was going to drop? So they should have waited for the price to drop.

Even if I did pay for it I would just put it down to been too eager to get one and that I have just had to pay over the odds for my eagerness?

As I stated at the beginning of my previous post I can see why people are dismayed by what has happened, But I would have just put it down to been eager to get one. If they feel that strongly about it give VM a call?

I didn't realise it was an either/or choice and that by complaining I'd have to agree to an NDA to not post about it on community forums as well.

Yes of course you can do both! I didn`t mean you shouldn`t complain! All I was saying was don`t JUST moan on forums without doing something else.

Got to agree with The Don. People who signed up for TiVo from the beginning beleived they were getting a good deal, and would be paying less than new customers. The main complaint from early adopters of TiVo appears to be more to do with deception from Virgin more than aything else.

Another PR shambles from Virgin. My favourite throughout this campaign was the Dear Dean e-mail .... priceless.

Yes that was a truly wonderful cock-up.

Well I dont know whether I`m going to end up on some sort of blacklist or not but I sent an email to Vm this morning expressing my disappointment at the new lower charges after only a few weeks ago I paid £149. I didnt ask or demand anything I just expressed my feelings.
Within 2 hours they phoned me up and before I got to say anything the guy said that he had credited my account with £50.

We all get the refund.

Hi

As many of you will have seen, we have just launched the marketing campaign for Virgin Media TiVo. As part of this campaign we've decided to lower the price for the 1TB box to £99.95. We're conscious that the earliest buyers of this great product paid £149.95, which was an offer only available to existing Virgin Media XL TV customers at the time.

We want to ensure that those who bought TiVo early are not missing out on the more competitive price now available. We're therefore pleased to say that we'll be crediting all those customers who bought the 1TB box at £149.95 with the £50 difference. This will appear on your bill in the next two months. We'll be emailing all these customers shortly, to confirm this.

We hope that you'll continue to enjoy your TiVo experience, which we think is the best way to watch TV, ever!

Thanks for your support

Alex

Not bad from Virgin, only took them 2 days to resolve the problem. Whilst there are claims Virgin planned to do this all along, why leave it until hundreds complain before making the announcement? Surely Virgin should have made this announcement at the same time as the new prices were revealed?

Credit to Virgin for addressing the issue however when will they ever learn the value of communicating info to their customers up front? Hopefully one day Virgin will be on the same page as their customers.

That is a big problem for VM. They are not proactive! they could save themselves so much grief if they thought things through.

I have just had the CEO's office say exactly the same thing to me and apologise that they didn't inform early adopters of the credit at the same time as dropping the price.

Did they always intend to give us early adopters a refund?

I got the offer of £149.95 + activation fee just for taking the Tivo service, i was not a TVXL customer, i only had brodband at the time.

So i won't expect a credit to my account or will i still be eligable?
