Virgin will stop broadcasting your local Radio channels on April 1st.

Then remove them on or just after April 8th.

Then all the missing BBC Channels as well as Magic 105.4 and Kiss Radio will launch after that date.

So why are Virgin removing local radio stations? Is it to make room for HD or other new channels? Or does nobody listen to them?

All the local Radio channels that Virgin Media are remove do not broadcast on any other network (Sky and Freesat).

From what I understand it's not a question of deleting them, but it's to do with the platform upgrades.

From what I understand (and I'm happy to be corrected here) when the networks are combined there will only be one super head end, and all channels will be taken into the network there. If it's not available there we won't get it. So local radio stations that they can't get a feed for outside the local area won't be able to be carried.

Will this be in time for the new Virgin TiVo and IPTV?
If so this will mean 2011? or earlier?

Looks good for Virgin in the future ;)

Is this happening to the TV channels too? ITV1 currently on VM is of good quality compared to the satellite version, does this mean we will get stuck with the inferior satellite ITV1?
