Not all of them had nearly a full year for them though. ;) Matt's first appearance is in January when the final special airs.

I think it is going to be strange that the actor playing the companion will probably be older than the actor playing the Doctor, its going to take some getting used to!

Wonder how long it will take them to release the first publicity shots of him in character. I imagine it will be once filming commences in the summer.

That's always assuming that the companion is (or at least appears to be) older than the Doctor.

They could cast a child in that role.....

Shouldn't be a problem. Catherine Tate is three years older than David Tennant.

he used to have his granddaughter on board

maybe a niece or nephew ( could be found ) we need the time lord line being continued !

or bring in a Leela type character ( or just Leela lol yes i liked the costumes ;) )

or bring back Jamie McCrimmon i always found him funny ( sad i know )
