It's gone mostly unnoticed but Arsenal have been playing awfully for about a month now. Ever since we beat City we've fallen off. We lost 4 - 0 to Southampton but we were poor against Bournemouth, Newcastle and Liverpool too. We need Sanchez and Coquelin back and soon. I wouldn't be surprised if we lost against Stoke.

Newcastle apparently set to test Lacazette once again :erm:

I don't get this joke, I really don't. A day after signalling they will sign a CF in this window they're now prepared to go after the same guy that apparently turned Liverpool down in the summer citing lack of Champions League football. A lad that's a sure shot for Euro 2016 at his current club. There's simply no way Newcastle could pull this off without offering him one of the highest wages in the league. Newcastle might have a war chest now but are still sound on wages.

Why don't I get the joke? It's the 14th of January, there's multiple targets, Lacazette is a FIFA 16 signing. If Newcastle are willing to throw £25 million at someone, pick someone who would actually come. It's hilarious though, the sheer audacity of a team sitting in 19th. Like I said, Ibrahimovic tomorrow? Icardi to sign on Saturday.

Newcastle have somehow managed to get 8 million for Tiote who leaves for Chinese league team Shanghai next week. That leaves only 12 first team midfielders at Newcastle now. No that's not a typo :erm:

A member brought up Referees. If you ask me there are many refs that are biased. If you watch many games, you will see what side the ref supports.

He is free and easy with the free kicks, and also the penalties. Its like that idiot Owen. He said in one game l watched, that a goal should seal it for the home side. Owen should be a commentator, he is totally rubbish and then you have Howard Webb, he has ruined himself by working for BT Sport.

Saying that the referee should have awarded a penalty, how about that for biting the person that used to pay his wages

Must admit that's kinda how it looks from the outside. Don't follow any English side but press do seem to slaughter LVG at every opportunity while they queue to kiss Klopp's buttocks. Like both of them as personalities enjoy listening to them but both are underachieving and only Van Gaal seems to get pelters

I do think Van Gaal should be open to more criticism because hes been in the job longer and Klopp hasn't had a chance to build a squad yet like Van Gaal has. Caulker is one of his signings though (a very strange one imo) I just would've loved to see the reaction if Van Gaal had made that sub and United lost, I think the pundits and journalists would'nt have been able to contain their delight of being able to nail him again.

No Premier League side is close to going bust though.. They just got even richer..

Then there's the unfortunate consequence that your story is entirely false. I'm assuming you've actually read it backwards to the middle then pieced the rest together. It was Yaya Toure linked with a Chinese side for 230,000 a week. Which probably still is likely false.

Arsenal Second
Manchester City Third
Spurs fourth.

All Spurs have to do is keep winning, they have a strong squad and fit. On more striker up front to support Kane. I think that Son, will come good next season
I have a feeling that Arsenal will burn themselves out and finish second.

And that is NOT just because l cannot Arsenal, its because Arsenal always fall apart toward the end of season.

They need a striker to support Giroud.

Tiote on his way back to Newcastle after Shanghai laugh at his 100,000 a week demands. Greedy but actually normal. It's a massive step down and I'm sure he wouldn't ask for half as much for moving back to Holland or another premier league club.

Newcastle are set to bid £20+ million for Saido Berahino despite him being set on a move to Spurs whom are apparently unwilling to pay more than 18.

Just back home from OT, can't think of any game at home this season that was as bad as this one, and there have been some stinkers. :(

De Gea, Smalling, Herrera did OK but the rest where average or below. Lingard looked jaded in the last match and he should have been pulled just after half time to give either Memphis or Januzaj enough time to have an impact, instead he waits until the last five minutes then hauls of the left fullback Borthwick-Jackson who was not having as bad a game as most. A minute later and deep in the corner Januzaj makes a typical badly timed forward players challenge and they score from the free kick.

Up until then Saints had been just as poor as United.

Utter horse brown-stuff. Van Gaal simply has to go. We luck our way (again) through a few results, Rooney starts to show a bit of sparkle and LVG tells the world United are contenders again. I've always believed the one of the main reasons Moyes failed was a team like United needs a cocky, arrogant manager with swagger and LVG is all three but the arrogance has to reflect positive performance and right now it's making him (and United) look pathetic. At least when United had bad spells in the past SAF was never in such complete denial. Pay attention to Van Gaal and you'd swear we were as strong as 1999 Champions League United.

Moyes was not and never could be the right man for United but at least he didn't insult the fans' intelligence by pretending we were on an upward curve. Yes United during the SAF era did win some games with luck but by the end of the season it was always the overall performance that won titles and trophies. You could still have belief in United.

Nowadays anyone fancies their chances against United, at OT too.

Van Gaal is in danger of destroying United more than Moyes did and maybe he already has, all that money spent and we're still not the the stronger team we ought to be. Given the quality of player United need right now who the hell would want to sign for us with him clearly unable or incapable of getting his "philosophy" to work?

#VanGaalOut - he's dangerously close to turning us in to Liverpool of the 90s.

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

I still think Moyes should have been given a whole season to shape a team, but sadly in a climate in which results matter most he was never going to get the chance to build a team.

Would Fergie have been given the 3 and a bit years he got in the 80's to build United now? I don't think so. Sadly it all seems to be short term glory and not long term like Fergie planned for and did so well. Much as it kills me to praise him.

And anyone who watched the highlights will see how silly that statement is, up until the goal went in in the 87th minute the stadium was still more than 95% full, only then was there a rush to the exits (not by myself I must add). Pretty horrid decision by Mertesacker. Take a possible goal and keep yourself on the pitch. He's off and they're 1-0 down.

Hate to say it but Arthur is so far being proven right. The league's there for the taking and they could be a few points clear but they're absolutely bottling it as usual. It's not a massive fresh change but I'd love to see someone other than United, Chelsea and City win the title bit it's gotta go to City now in the long run. I don't think Leicester will actually win it but they're right in there for the champions league. We were on less points than them at this stage in 2012 and only finished 3 points off. This is with us losing 5-1to Fulham and losing to Norwich and West Bromwich albion back to back. Draws and not losing trivial games could even win them the league.

Did Leicester just get better? No, the supposed elite are an absolute shambles. Manchester United are no longer feared. I used to watch OT away for us and pray not to be spanked 6-0. Now I get annoyed when we don't get a point...

Butland performed like a typical England keeper in the shoot out, never really dived, just leaned one way or the other far too soon. Mingolet was far better and he even dived the correct way almost every time.

Still think Stoke were the better team on the night.

Yes Stoke were the better team on the night that's for sure and we could have had no excuses if we had went out.

I think a Liverpool v Everton final would be a good thing, at least they will fill Wembley. City can't even fill their own ground for a cup semi final.

They have taken out full page adds in the local papers and had a three minute video of Ageuro begging fans to come along on their web site.

Still the "City is Yours" isn't it.:p:

Guilherme Siqueira (Atletico Left back)

Set to sign for Newcastle on loan with a permanent deal trigger. Comes after the Townsend deal made Newcastle the highest spending January club in Europe :erm: Problems much?

Newcastle also weighing up Loic Remy after refusing to play ball with WBA over Berahino, Newcastle are willing to pay £25 million but WBA will take no less than £30 million.

With the left back deal it appears a deal for Kieran Gibbs was a mere Paper bs story.

Not sure about Remy adzii as he never seems to be fit.

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

Scratch Remy, Newcastle just asked Roma about taking Sedyou Doumbia on Loan presumably with a permanent option.

United vs Derby underway.

So long as your address has a TV Licence, you could watch it anywhere right? Still in London but at the hotel which has a pretty naff TV, can get it in HD on laptop. Saying that, the hotel TV licence would cover me anyway? Flat screens but they seem to have a lot of Ghosting (International -Britannia at Canary Wharf) Doesn't have BBC HD. Still better than the Europa in Gatwick, managed to nab some extra days via this hotel though to finish up sightseeing.

Simple finish, makes it look so easy. Starting to look like the young Rooney. Bit offside? 50/50, ones that close from where he was make no difference anyway.

This is normally the prelude to egg on face but does klopp really think his team today is strong enough to beat the hammers?

Extra time and then penalties on Tuesday would leave most of the first 11 running on empty by half time, a bit surprised that he hasn't got some of them on the bench though?

To be fair O'Brien and jelovic are on so it's like playing with nine men

No but its nice to see youngsters being given a chance nevertheless.

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

Sedyou Doumbia on Tyneside to complete move to Newcastle as Atletico LB fails to turn up for Medical in favour of a move to Valencia.

Claims in the past 30 minutes suggest Newcastle have made a bid of £21 million for Saido Berahino. This will go all the way to deadline day.

Florian Thauvin returns to OM on loan with movement for Tiote also expected as Newcastle try to reduce the 13 first team midfielders they have.

Unconfirmed but expected reports that the £21 million bid for Berahino has been rejected and Newcastle are expected to rise to £25 million and trigger his release clause.

£25 million for the player who really is not fit to lace the boots of Shearer and Gullit.:nono:

Out of interest, does anyone actually rate Berahino highly?

denphone 31-01-2016 18:49

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

Personally l think he is vastly over-rated for what he has done so far and l would not pay more then £7 million for him at the very most as you get very good players from the continent for not much more then that.

Gullit never played for Newcastle...

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

He did do a pretty awful job of managing them though. Placing a certain Alan Shearer on the bench in a derby he then lost proved too much with a player revolt the next day spearheaded by Duncan Ferguson.

Apparently Sedyou Doumbia has already signed for Newcastle. Newcastle still need a left back. Appear to still be heading for another striker though which would bring Newcastle to 6 first team strikers, 13 midfielders but only 4 defenders, 3 of which are actually fit.

Yes l know but l was talking about them in the context of them as legendary football players which Berahino certainly is not.
