Got to admit I was in the not bothered if we get it or not camp but now it's here I'm happy to have it.

I think I'm correct in saying that if you subscribe via BT you only get the channels on one box (no multiroom) but with this Virgin deal it is on all boxes. Very handy if the majority want to watch something else while sport is on.

In all due respect the deal was down to negotiation and whatever conditions of announcement BT put on the deal imo. Valiant though the emails may have been I cannot see they affected the deal which was it seems VM playing hardball until BT agreed to having it on XL.

09:01 it was announced the channels went live straight away to XL customers

Away from XL and VIP pack BT Sport is also available for a monthly fee

If you have TV M, TV M+ or TV L, you can add on all 6 channels (3SD and 3HD) for just £15 a month

Was never in doubt BT would come but I comend the effort they did to secure it for free on same terms as original ESPN, that for me is excellent but anything less would have still not satisfied all people

I'm so glad that all this subterfuge surrounding BT Sport has come to an end.

For those who are not on XL or who won't be subscribing, that want to see some of the football that BT Sport has the rights to, all is not lost.

BT are currently in talks with ITV with a view to selling them the rights to show some matches Free To Air on one of the ITV channels :)

Now that the VM negotiations are complete, BT is also talking to Talk Talk. Expect an announcement very soon to complete distribution of BT Sport to all major platforms in the UK.

Couldn't believe it when I saw them on the EPG, had to check it wasn't some free promotion! Well done VM, never doubted you for a moment....honest :erm:

Ironically, yesterday I printed a new list of channels for my family after the UKTV changes, and I said "I bet now I've printed this that BT will appear tomorrow"! :cool:

Although now that BT and VM have made this deal, I can't see Sky being willing to let VM have Atlantic now.

After the steady erosion of the XL/VIP TV package over the last months I'm really pleased to see some of the lost value of the XL/VIP TV pack being put back - at least for the sports fans. Well done Virgin Media, take a bow.

Now, if only there was some equally good news for the non sports fans (I'm thinking here of Sky Atlantic and maybe Sky Bravo or whatever it's going to end up as). Too much to hope for?

Fully agree sir, on both parts of the quote! A really great effort from VM. I must say though, I am going to enjoy seeing top quality rugby free of charge.

Whilst I have no real loyalty to VM, it is nice to see that the provider who offers me the best all round package, has improved it's value greatly. I can not praise VM's staff enough.

As much I as I have always believed VM would get Sky atlantic, following on from this deal, I now think Sky would insane to give VM Sky Atlantic. It's not a problem for me, but I do now feel sorry for those who want:(

Channel 5 are set to launch a new channel called 5later. It will be on freeview and negotiations are to take place with VM with a view to adding it to the platform (it is also expected to go onto satellite).

I think this deal ramps a whole load of pressure on Sky Sports especially if BT capture more key rights , VM customers are getting the full package of BT Sports were Sky currently only offer 2 sports channels in HD to VM and for an eye watering £25.75.

Didn't VM do a deal with BT allowing them access to some of their high speed fiber optic? That could have helped clinch the deal, I know there is a similar story going round re- Sky which could pave way for more from them.

Maybe BT will launch BT Atlantic now? Just joking by the way!
