Sky2 is a similar counterpart timeshift channel for Sky1.

It looks like they've decided to replace this format with a normal one-hour timeshift, which is disappointing.

I think TCM2 was launch years ago for using time left over on Cartoonito (Was Cartoon Network Too) maybe Cartoonito will now broadcast all day long and maybe TCM +1 is moving to an new broadcasting stream on Astra.

It wouldn't surprise me if BT and VM and signed a deal but VM have been blocked from announcing it until August 1st as this is when anyone Joining BT will have to pay for the HD subscription

As far as I know the TiVo EPG is still showing a full ESPN schedule up to August 7th

If this is the case we'll have no announcement till a week Thursday

I'm fascinated by the psychology here. People are bending reality to fit their desires. I'm a sport fan, I want BT Sport in XL as much as anyone. But there is absolutely no sign of it coming! BT says it is a vehicle for them to sign up more BB and phone customers and that they will only deal directly with end users. VM are unable to do so. So a model was established several months ago with Sky (who are) but not with VM.

Adverts have aired on national TV explaining that VM customers will not be able to receive the service.

But despite all of this people seem optimistic?!?

Why???

When this time has elapsed as part of this deal BT sport will be announced as arriving on VM when stated and Atlantic shortly after. There will therefore be no reason not to offer Atlantic to VM customers on the XL package as they will lose advertising revenue with people downloading GoT via torrents. I believe that VM will have a wholesale price for VM customers, so it may only cost a little bit more for XL customers than prior with ESPN. It isn't going to cost an extra subscription just the XL price as far as I am aware.

Because the reality of BT Sports not coming will be extremely bad news for VM and thus if that scenario was to come to hand then that's extremely bad news for VM as the customer flak and ire will make the Sky Basic's dispute seem like a tea party in comparison.

I'd say because Virgin posted this on their website a few weeks back. The message was swiftly removed by Virgin suggesting it was an error. A well crafted error I'd say.

So it was swiftly removed, this further reinforces my point that people are bending what is said here, to fit what they want to hear.

Does anyone REALLY THINK (and I may be wrong on this) that anyone on here is privy to what are no doubt, quite high level negotiations regarding channel agreements? I think not.

Does anyone really think that people who are privy to this information are going to let this out into the wild? Wouldn't that be more than their job is worth? Maybe the insiders are just wildly speculating too?

One minute we have confrmations, next rumours and then backtracks on confirmations.
Frankly it's all (I won't swear)

If they arrive - great, when they arrive great but until then, it's not worth whipping into a frenzy over it. It's not some self-fulfilling prophecy although some people would like to think it is.

l have been told that there will be significant announcements in the coming weeks. All l know is that one of those announcements is likely to involve BT Sports.
On July 17th Asian Channel posted that Sky Atlantic and Sky Atlantic HD was set to launch on Virgin Channels 119 and 120.

They have test channels on sky for BT sport HD. Both channels.

Maybe with Virgin, they want to give you the real "Virgin" experience of launching without testing, just
"like a virgin, broadcast for the very first timeeeee, like a Virginnnn, when your Sky channel beats, next to mineeee"

In my own view - Maybe the channels you have listed are testing on Virgin Media HQ for all we know.

Due to NGTV I cant get that info any more.

ok -bored now of all ihis is BT coming to virgin or not and at what price. They should really make an official announcement.

i like my sports but have already cancelled sky sports and i wont be getting bt sports as a stand alone subscription package if and when it finally arrives on VM.

i am more bothered about the changes to XL from 1st august. We have already been told there is no price drop so i shall wait to see how VM plan to "maintain XL's excellent value for money" with no ESPN. If that BT sports well great ...if not we'll see what other potential channels VM add.

i am sure a lot of XL customers will also be seeing what happens. i would suggest for a fair few having ESPN in the XL pack was a major reason they subscribed to XL.Not the only one of course- the HD and certain channels are also factors. I am sure VM will be aware they need to do something or they risk losing a number of punters either altogether or some may downgrade their service. Either way thats a loss of revenue.

doing 'nothing' would not really appear to be an option. I know we have had a couple of new channel & HD channel launches recently. Not enough though to maintain its value imo

A colleague who has Virgin (as opposed to the virgin colleague, who is different person altogether) has said that if they don't get BT sport, they will downscale, as that is all he is interested in.

So cityfan is likely right, quite a few will downgrade.

Frankly, it's all supposition.

I'm willing to look a fool if it comes off but honestly, all this second guessing, it gets a little monotonous.

VM are not always quiet about launches.

They put those coming screen channel placeholders up. They have done it for a few channels of late. If the BT Sports deal was signed i would expect a channel placeholder to be there.

As for Atlantic, When VM got Sky 1 back and were gearing up for Sky on demand they were quite vocal about that too. If they had a deal for Atlantic to start next week they would be using this to get customers to renew and switch. The longer BT and Atlantic are off VM the more likely they are to have customers switch to Sky or take up the BT broadband offer.

It's called a soft launch and is all carefully planned. Whenever anything is announced or launched, some customers will call about it, and some may require tech visits. Staff need to be available to answer those calls and make those visits. By keeping the comms low-key, it spreads the load. You'd soon be complaining if they couldn't cope with the demand.

In my own view:

If the rumoured on Virgin Media being banned from telling Viewers that BT Sports are coming to until August 1st are true we will not we an channel placeholder for BT Sports but we may see an extra placeholder telling viewers how to order BT Sports appearing with BT Sports on August 1st.

I also think Virgin Media may add an channel placeholder Sky Atlantic launching as soon as Tonight after midnight if Asian Channel rumours are true.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 3.

I would think that as a business point of all, the way VM are acting that they dont want the extra customer.

If l was running VM, l would have advert galore going out and trying there hardest to get more business. At the moment people are thinking - Sky here we come. BUT VM should be out there getting as much revenue as possble from the BT Sport and Atalntic IF true.

I'm pretty confident about BT Sport coming to Virgin Media.

Don't know if any of you saw this tweet they sent last week?

Seems like they know something they're not telling us.

VM current deal for new customers of half price for 12 months is very very good but expires on 31st July.

All these rumours of big channels launching on 1st August makes it a very convenient time end this deal doesn't it?!

31 July and 1 August are significant dates.

As far as I know the TiVo EPG is still showing a full ESPN schedule up to August 7th

If this is the case we'll have no announcement till a week Thursday

It is important that the embargo is adhered to, as otherwise it could be viewed as a breach of contract by BT (this includes any "leaks".) Otherwise, this could mean that any plans to offer the service in August are aborted.

It may be that VM are not allowed to do this for contractual reasons because they feel that the cheaper carriage costs in return for agreeing to this are worth risking the loss of a few customers who cannot wait for the official announcement.

Roll on August 13th so I can see if:

-TCM +1 will launch on Virgin.
-TCM +1 will become an 24 hour channel.
-Or just part time channel like TCM2 just under an other name.

l personally think that regarding BT Sports BT has consistently over-rated the hand that it has and thus it had no choice but to do a deal with VM as not doing a deal in my mind was not a viable option in my humble opinion.

Would the Premier League be satisfied with a rights holder not offering live coverage of their games to a method of delivery? With the contracts that the Premier League and their clubs have with sponsors, would there be a requirement to make it available on cable? Would sponsors be happy with less publicity?

They do that before every new football season. Not that there's any Premiership football on Sky Sports HD 3 or 4.
Actually, it's amazing the number of non-VM customers who still think Sky Sports isn't available at all on cable.

Interesting article about how BT have only signed up 23,000 new accounts as opposed to talktalk who signed up 160,000. Hopefully puts pressure on BT and gives VM a better position for a better deal.

Yes SS 1,2,3,4, F1 and News in HD. And how can they offer a discount when they don't sell it?

The 4 tester channels will be BT1, 2 and HD. There will be 2 other streams freed on the 1st August as according to EPG, ESPN America and Classic to close, so it works out

Test1 = Sky Atlantic. (Probably)
Test2 = Sky Atlantic HD (probably)
Test3 = BT Sport 1/2 HD
Test4 = BT Sport 1/2 HD
ESPN A = BT Sport 1/2 SD
ESPN C = BT Sport 1/2 SD

Virgin Media has confirmed the following about ESPN America and ESPN Classic after July 31st:

Quote:

Q: WHAT HAPPENS TO RECORDINGS I'VE MADE FROM THE ESPN CHANNELS AFTER JULY 31ST?
A: Anything you’ve recorded from ESPN, ESPN HD, ESPN America and ESPN Classic will be there to enjoy until 1 November 2013. After that, they’ll disappear.
So Virgin will not reuse ESPN America and ESPN Classic Channels streams until sometime after November 1st.
