For the first time in a LONG time, the last 5 minutes of Raw gave me a true HOLY ****!! moment - did not see that one coming! I imposed a "no spoilers for 24 hours" rule in this thread - which even applied to myself - and now I'm regretting it. I want tomorrow to hurry up and come so we can post about this!

WWE had been drifting for too long, the Rumble was ok other than the winner being pretty obvious and the Last Man Standing match, whilst having some pretty sick bump had a terrible ending, basically a repeat of the last one (Batista v Cena). Yes seeing The Rock's return was good but nothing really got me excited about the product - until now :)

Really? Its inevitable that it will be him versus trips at WrestleMania then he's off into the sunset, again. Then twice in a lifetime for the title, it is looking pretty bleak IMO.

Awesome idea! Instead of not posting spoilers for 24 hours let's just say things that virtually give away who it is to any casual WWE fan....

Me. I dip in and out, and all I can say about the latest inductee to Hall of Fame is meh. They've done chuff all to deserve being inducted.

Rumours are that Madison Square Garden will be first building inducted and the celebrity inductee this year will be Donald Trump. Big meh to him.

I see what you're saying but it should also include 'defining moment' stars too. I disagree with about Trump going in (if true) but a good example would be Mike Tyson. His impact during the early Attitude Era played a major part in the Monday Night Wars.

Do you mean 'bought'? No way does Trump need anything from WWE. More likely Vince added him to give the ceremony a bit more 'star power'.

Anyway, the opening 5 minutes of last night's Raw...no spoilers but yessss!!

I know people have a go at Cena, I think it's unfair a lot of the time as it's not his fault he's the company's cash cow. His ability might be limited, I'll agree to that however the kids love him.

But you think he'd actually sell the effects of a piledriver....

MalteseFalcon 26-02-2013 12:30

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

That's been my problem with Cena for a long while now. I appreciate the hard work he does, he has my respect for the way he represents the company. However, I am sick of him using the same 5 moves each match, and his inability to sell any moves that would leave the likes of Santino rolling in agony. When he faced Punk at MITB in 2011, imo that was Cena's best match ever. Showed what he can do when he uses more than the same old rubbish every time.

First section was the best part of the whole show, from there it went downhill for me.

I know right? Crowds seem to be dead lately, unless darling Cena or Punk are out there. And Taker still gets a huge pop from crowds. I think the day crowds fail to go nuts over Taker he needs to give it up.

Saying that, I think this will be the last WM for him. The last 2 matches he's had at WM have taken more and more out of him.

I know right? I have a feeling that Taker will lose his streak, Cena will be champion yet again which means that spinning title will be back, and Lesnar will beat Triple H. I'll just look at the results and maybe watch it after downloading for my brother.

Russ 02-04-2013 08:47

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Taker will never lose the streak, at least not not Punk. If he does lose it it'll be to someone needing that achievement and Punk doesn't.

Cena certainly will win the title as part of the 'payback' agreement of Rock beating him last year.

And the way they've angled it there's no way Lesnar will win. When HHH retires it'll be made has his own decision. There's no way he will end his career with a forcible 'retirement'.

Everything said above with the added spinner title, doubt it's coming back, I like the look of the new WWE title and the whole spinner deal doesn't fit Cena now anyway.

For the last two years I've felt WrestleMania has been getting under promoted but again I've felt that about all WWE PPV's in general, first was the entire renaming deal, then they made it so there's match specific PPV's... Imo the Money in the Bank at WM was far superior to an entire PPV dedicated to one match.

Russ 02-04-2013 10:47

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

The WWE title means too much to the industry to have it changed again so soon. It'll stay in its current design for a good few years yet, and never back to being a 'spinner'.

Oh and having just watched the end of Raw, there should be no doubts as to who will win a certain match at WM. No spoilers to be posted (at least until tomorrow) but they're sailing dangerously close to the wind with how it ended.

MalteseFalcon 02-04-2013 10:48

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Could be right, but until I see the results are what I want them to be I will have a bad feeling about them.

Since last WM, this will be Cena's 4th title match. 3 in 2012, and now this year's WM. Wonder if he will keep it as long as Punk did, or if they will make him lose it back to Punk at the next PPV? And in any case, Rock has to have a rematch because I thought champions got an automatic rematch if they lost the title?

His selling is amazing, a throwback to Mr Perfect and the early HBK. As someone who has done the training perhaps I just appreciate how well he bumps as I'm amazed he can pull them off yet still be able to perform every night. His conditioning must be incredible. I reckon he could be the next 'that guy' if marketed properly.

Fandango... just lol. Jericho can't even make him look good. Give it a month and he'll be Fanjobber.

Just having a quick watch, can't believe Ziggler and Big Show got such huge pops. With the crowd reacting like that, Ziggler is definitely over with the crowd. I think he could make a face turn no problem. Trouble is, I think he is one of those who is better as a heel. Jericho for instance, Big Show and Orton another 2 better as heels. Sheamus too.

Just bought tickets for the TV tapings in two weeks (they had 7 left for Raw from the entire arena), hopefully the nutters from Monday are there again.

Not a theme but a few of the wrestlers 'sang' on Slam Jam in 1992.

Yeah, Sheamus/Orton/Taker vs. The Shield at the SmackDown taping, the main reason I quickly decided to go now rather than November as I can't imagine he'll be coming back.

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Rumours are that he is coming on this tour as next years WM will be his last one, and he will retire 22-0 keeping the streak intact. Those same rumours also say WWE will try and convince Brock Lesnar to be the last opponent for Taker as Taker would like to fight him.

Any decent places to eat in London that don't make you cry at the prices? First time I've been.

My 1st time going to London and the O2 arena so not a clue sorry

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

You're going to the O2? There are a few places to eat in there but they're a bit expensive. It really depends how you define it but you're probably looking at between £20 - £30 a head type places. It's mostly chain stores.

The O2 is sort of in the middle of nowhere as well. I would recommend eating elsehwere if you want to keep prices down.
