Nah - there's something very unsettling about the thought of Spurs leading at Old Trafford.

Or, indeed, anywhere. I'd settle for three points for the Arsenal, Utd and Spurs drawing, Liverpool going down at Fulham and O'Leary having the smile wiped off his face by Wigan. Oh, frabjous day. Even if Pires needs his head examining.

It was either on or just over the line, even ex-players watching it afterwards can't agree,i'd call that near!
If the ref hadn't given it,we would have got a penalty for the foul on Baros and Cech would have been sent off.

Three, by media rumours. Worth checking out on MotD I'd have thought. Mind you, City had a dodgy offside rob them of a goal...

I think Liverpool were unlucky with the timing - if it'd been Ian Rush who'd died I wouldn't want to be supporting the away team next game at Anfield. Fulham definitely had something to prove.

It's amazing just how hypocritical scousers are, they talk about penalties given or not. But at the height of their success were a laughing stock at the amount of penalties they got given, especially in front of the kop. Now, I wonder which end of the ground it was when they were given that goal that never was. :naughty:

Failed to strike the ball properly at the second penalty, free kick to City. He was trying to do something clever (he also missed a sitter and got booked, but that was for smacking Danny 'Satanic' Mills so we'll let him off. Anyway, he won us the match).

I think as far as position 1 it is. The rest is up for grabs (places 2-7 are only 3 points apart), but as United fans well know, first is everything and second (or third :) ) is nowhere. That's why they're so annoyed.

'Wigan are better than everyone expected' is a fair enough statement, as is 'Man Utd are keeping up their dismal Premiership form of the last two seasons' and 'The only two sides with 100% home records are Chelsea and Arsenal'.*

* 'And 'Arsenal have the best home form and worst away form in the Premiership', if we're being scrupulously accurate. And 'It's Arsenal's worst start to the Premiership in 11 years yet we're still only 2 points behind Man Utd'.

Oh, and Charlton came from behind to beat Pompey 2-1 so they're up to second. It's musical chairs, and Mourinho's conducting the damn orchestra.

ManU vs Spurs p***ed me off.

Smith the dirty w****r pushing Davids in an unprovoked attack in front of the ref and the ref does f-all.

Plus the usual run of bad luck we always get. A freekick resulting in a goal that was never a foul, hitting the cross bar, a penalty not given when Man U handled the ball. The usual day in the life of Spurs.

Got reminded earlier, this match last year was when Spurs scored, but the dopey ref said it didn't cross the line - when it did by 2'. Losing those 3 points we deserved, meant we didn't get into europe :(

Argh!!!

It says here that Pires was insecure about taking the penalty, if that was the case, why didn't someone else take it ?

Tell me about, it - just spent the evening in a pub with a City supporting mate - his mirth was audible from outer space. Mind you, if they'd pulled it off they'd be on all the front pages as 'audacious musketeers' or some such rubbish. At least they'll have learnt not to be so damn stupid and we didn't drop any points as a result. 1-0 to the Arsenal has such a nostalgic ring to it, too.

Beckham and Gravesen got sent off for Real Madrid tonight, incidentally. They lost 2-1 as well. At home. Ho ho ho.

No **** - Benitez looked like he'd just been nicked for speeding afterwards. Not an impressive performance from him. Liverpool have fewer domestic away wins than Arsenal now :P

Top penalty taking from van Persie - mind you, the next Arsenal penalty was always going to be whacked at a million miles an hour - the keeper never saw it.

Speroni isn't even a keeper.. he may be able to stop a shot hit straight at him but other than that he has no idea where to stand.. when to come off his line or not.. etc and you still couldn't beat us :Yikes:

if you saw Dowie after the game give a big cheer and throw his fist into the air in front of the Holmesdale Road end ( our version of the Kop ) you can see how much passion he has.. shame we never showed it against Brighton though

Oh there definately was contact from Whittle, but Shearer did an earlier "challange", not as bad, but...

I could go on a mad rant about him, but I'd better not ;)

We're already practicing new penalty techniques. Hadn't you noticed?

Serious note - George Best's condition has deteriorated, according to the BBC.

Quote:

Alcoholism is a dependency on alcohol characterised by craving (a strong need to drink), loss of control (being unable to stop drinking despite a desire to do so), physical dependence and withdrawal symptoms, and tolerance (increasing difficulty of becoming drunk).

Essentially, the causes for alcohol abuse and dependence cannot be easily explained, but the long-standing, unscientific prejudice that alcoholism is the result of moral or ethical weakness on the part of the sufferer has been largely altered, as a recent poll showed that 90% of Americans currently believe that alcoholism is, in fact, a disease.

Treatments for alcoholism include detoxification programs run by medical institutions. These may involve stays for a number of weeks in specialized wards where drugs may be used to avoid withdrawal symptoms, which in severe cases may lead to death.

SDA, you will see the points that have been highlighted, we are all made up differently and should not frown upon anyone who can not adhere to, what is known to be the norm, I admit that George was given a second chance, but I am lead to believe that this time it was the anti alcohol drugs, and not the alcohol itself that has put him in this life threatening condition

well being a United fan as well this is very sad news and not something I want to see happen.. looking at it from both sides of the fence he's been killing himself with drink since the 70s and never been able to stop despite the fact that he wants to and keeps trying to stop all the time.. as stated above the exact causes of alcoholism aren't really known so yuo can't really say if it is his fault or not

Rubbish or not ?

It is certainly not enough money for a start.
I just hope that the recent rape allegations doesn't make him want to get out of this country.

I'd have said £25 million wasn't enough money for Beckham....

No I'd say the only way Ronaldo is going anywhere is if he upsets SAF a la Beckham, Stam etc

Highbury is going to be developed into luxury apartments etc. People started to queue this morning to put a deposit down to secure a flat. One idiot has stated that he wants to get the one situated exactly where the home team dugout is at present. What a wally, he won't be able to see anything from there.:D

Terrible draw, we wanted a home game and any team apart from bolton, charlton or west brom.

Away to bolton unlikely to go through and wont be a money spinner :(

Oh happy day. Shame Blackburn couldn't hold onto 2-2 at the Bridge. Lucky Man U have a nice, easy Premiership game to rebuild their shattered confidence next week...

Ferdinand's been subbed. What a waste of money, eh?

Yep, it could be 6 next week if united play in the same spirit.
