My bet

On demand 4K content e.g. drama/serials/events due to resent tie ups with All3Media and Endemol Shine

and perhaps a couple of channels from the Discovery Deal.

Discovery 4K

Eurosport 4K

:D

Not sure where this optimism is coming from, must be the weather and Olympic feel good effect,

I like your style :D But do those two channels exist?

I reckon Discovery will be hot on this. As an earlier poster said there is only one full time 4K channel at the moment but I think in the next 2 years we are going to see quite a few pop up.

Eurosport will certainly have prime content to show with Winter & Summer Olympics and all the Tennis Grand Slams.

I have a feeling they are going to challenge the Sports Channel model. Rather than Sky Sports and BT Sport producing premium channels with mostly exclusive content I see Eurosport having a different model.

Keep the core sport offering on their widely distributed subscription channels with some exclusive rights put most shared with FTA. The focus of Eurosport being marketing their premium add ons such as multi-screen via Eurosport Player and 4K.

So one day you may have the core Olympic events on the BBC but have the option to pay extra if you want the premium Olympic experience of it in 4K and multi-screen access for all events. In that way I can see them also bidding for non exclusive rights to other sports such as the Fifa World Cup etc.. I'm sure this is partly behind their strategy for getting their foot in the door with Wimbledon.

Maybe I'm over thinking it. Slow day at work :p:

.... sort of like the way the streaming companies charge. You could be right there.

BT show even less 4K content , the majority of the time there's nothing on channel or not.

Can you see it being exclusive ? with such a small potential audience on VM personally I can't see it being worth it for both parties.

Otherwise I agree these channels may launch in 4K at some stage however I'd imagine on multiple platforms.

Your guess is as good as mine.

To speculate, it might be a little like the Netfllix model but with a discount for Virgin Media XL customers???

You subscribe to Eurosport via the web but you can access your account seamlessly via your Tivo / TV anywhere. Maybe with a special rate for Virgin Media customers on certain packages.

...that's something I didn't know.

Is this how their HD and 3D channels initially started?

Interesting thoughts. Question is whether LGI's relationship with Discovery Group is sufficient to ensure that VM will get all possible Eurosport content or whether Eurosport will keep it to its Eurosport app. People say the two have a strong connection and Malone has stakes in both companies, but they do have separate sets of shareholders to satisfy.

Maybe the discounted Eurosport app suggestion is the way forward for Eurosport which may give up its channel spots eventually and become app-only.

Well as VM's 4K box is only out at the end of the year, it's not an issue here yet. :)
Is this a VM-exclusive channel Media Boy?
