I'm not quite understanding the reason for your anger, MM! You are not my disciple. You can accept or disregard my comments as you wish. The truth will out in due course. Can we now just chill?,

What anger? if thats your perception then you are totally wrong, i asked you a straightforward question, which seems to be beyond you, maybe you should "chill" before posting non facts!

Ahhh, I didn't know that.

It's on his blog but with the disclaimer that it's based on rumour. He says only two channels are confirmed by insiders, FOX+ and News 18.

1) uniform branding across all companies
2) uniform channels across all companies
3) One box only & Tivo is NOT the model favored.

All is subject to contracts of cause but these are the company aims.
Would look t be in place within the next Five years

When they took over they made a point of saying how they couldn't improve on the Virgin brand, and had no plans to change it. I wonder if point 1 means we'll see the brand licensed across other Liberty companies, as opposed to dropped in the UK?

I'm not sure how point 2 will work because UPC Ireland aside, Liberty don't operate in any English language countries.

I'm resigned to point 3, but that's years away yet, and then years more because I won't have to change it, just as some people still have v+. I'm hoping I'll have other fibre options by then.

They don't have an opt out of the Virgin Media brand until mid 2017, so that isn't happening any time soon.

You could well be correct on all your statements
Yes, it could be that all are called Virgin, I have no idea
Would point out shows can be dubbed, & there is a difference between Channels & Shows.

On the box & in fact the total company structure ,its is I am told down to the bottom line.

You could be right about Maverickjesus, but it may just be that he has poor communication skills and cannot express himself effectively, so comes accross as abrupt and rude??

That's more like it :)

Well, it doesn't surprise me that LG are going for uniform branding, but this is the first time I've heard it being mooted.

I am also not surprised that LG will be looking to an exit strategy for TiVo. Their own Horizon box is in use elsewhere and would save them having to pay licencing fees to TiVo.

I wonder if the Horizon software can be dropped onto the existing TiVo boxes??

---------- Post added at 23:43 ---------- Previous post was at 23:39 ----------

Perhaps the Horizon box could be incorporated to include Wishlists (and anything else worth having from TiVo)??

Horizon will save VM money and possibly customers too (maybe this change will put a stop to the multiroom per TiVo charge or the actual TiVo charge itself)??

I simply can not believe that what amounts to "five year child" speak is taken a gospel - really "I was told but can not tell you" is just sad.
Also as I sit here with a broken leg - I have failed to locate a single posting of fact that I could not find around the same time form other sources

I've no doubt. On the face of it moving the whole operation to one box owned in it's entirety by the company and without any licensing fees to pay makes complete commercial sense. Purely from a personal point of view I love my TiVo so will be sorry to see it go.

I hope we do get all the channels from Europe as well. Foreign based only channels seem to be limited to Indian only currently (with the odd French one)

Yes that's true but broadcasters won't make a dubbed version just for Liberty Global unless there is money in it. Beside there is also the rights issues to deal with. Most of the foreign channels (even the Irish ones) would have to be blocked out most of the time as they are not allowed to broadcast in the UK.

Channel convergence may happen but it will only be between VM and UPC

I'm pretty sure there will still be fees incurred , the software on the Horizon box surely still belongs to NDS (Now Cisco).

As they say:

"We don’t have any Spotify Premium offers for you at the moment, but word on the street is there’ll be a brand new offer coming autumn 2013."

I reckon it's only a rumour. :)

With many customers with TiVo how do they plan to swap out these their thousands of them be a huge cost unles the software can be changed on them which wasnt the case for the v+ boxes...history repeating itself...
