The takeover by Liberty doesn't change this legally binding agreement, as long as ESPN still exists as an entity. BT can't close down ESPN because of the requirements of various unexpired sports rights. The ESPN brand WILL eventually disappear. Of course, both companies are free to supercede the contracts if both parties agree. With immediate effect, Sky employees have been told not to refer to (or insinuate) that Sky Atlantic is a channel that is exclusive to British Sky Broadcasting Group PLC. Appropriate action would need to be taken by Sky management regarding any issues of insubordination by anybody working for or on behalf of Sky Television. I am afraid I am unable to expand any further due to commercial & confidentiality issues. Quote:

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 3.
I must preface this by saying I believe BomberAF is correct and that we will see Atlantic and BT Sports coming very soon and in the way he told us it would come too:). However, lets not forget that Sky dropping the "exclusive" could simply mean it will be made available on NOW TV, not VM. It could also be launching on BT as part of the sports deal. These are very unlikely scenarios though and I think in the next couple of weeks many people who have been upset with VM, will be over the moon:)

Re: Current channel negotiations. I do concur with your view that any person employed by any party partaking in these alleged negotiations would be foolish to risk disciplinary action (up to and including dismissal) for the sake of disobeying a management instruction not to pass on very commercially sensitive information that may leave either company open to the threat of legal action for damages and/or breach of contract. This level of security is unprecedented and is highly unusual, so it is quite feasible that Media Boy would be able to obtain a "heads up" regarding channel launches. |

Match of the day will be available on the BBC iPlayer from this August , previously it couldn't be shown On Demand due to rights issues.

Always wondered why the IPlayer online had films but not on the VM iPlayer.
