Well, after being changed around for yesterday, my manager managed to get me back onto her job, the one I was originally on, and so I was home early last night.

Just had a text message stating that my new sofa's will arrive on Thursday between 12-7pm. I must admit I'm slightly worried about the colour choice and I'm really hoping that it will go with my colour scheme, it should as my living room has a light colour scheme or as hubby calls it plain & uncluttered  whereas I like to use the wording tidy & adaptable.

The only area where I think there might be a colour clash is the stair wall since my stairs are in my living and when I mentioned this to hubby he said if I don't like it on Thursday we will go out on Thursday evening and get some paint for that wall problem solved :)

My son has decided to raise his target on his just giving page since he went beyond his target so quickly, he is now sitting at 87% so far he and has raised £350.00 with the new target of £400.00, tbh I think he was surprised at how quickly he raised these funds and he is truly thankful to everyone who has helped him achieve this and as his Mother I'm just so proud of him as I see just how committed he is with his training but I had to laugh when he said when at the Gym the other morning when he went at 2am he asked a guy "mate can you give me a introduction on this machine" and the man said "I'm just the cleaner" so my son replied "I think it's strange that there is no one here to show me how to use this machine" and the cleaner said "not as weird as you being here at 2am" when he told his Dad and I of this conversation he wondered why we were basically on the floor in fits of laughter.

The 2 local problem families had Noise Orders served against them to quieten their kids down during the school hols. Their screaming and yelling in the street from 7am most mornings was getting a bit annoying.

I don't know who made the complaint, but I'm glad it worked.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

You must be glad Taf although I will never understand how parents can allow their children to scream from morning to night and at the end of the day you really cannot blame the children if they have never been taught to respect or consider other people feelings. It's the same way as I don't understand how parents can allow their children out without knowing where they are and what time they will be home, maybe I'm just too strict with the boundaries I set.

My eldest is 25 this year and I expect him to let me know if he will be in for dinner, his work shift, what time to expect him in etc and he just does it. Also I have said to my son's friends drive the way you want but when you drive in my street drive slowly as children are playing and keep your music down as we have elderly residents living here and they just do it no questions asked, it's all in the up bringing.

My Japanese banana palm has produced a large bud, about 6" long and 3" in diameter and still growing. Looks like it's going to flower and make fruit for the first time. :)

Normally they require a year+ of weather with enough warmth to keep growing. The mild winter and recent warmth have kept it growing for long enough.

It also has four smaller palms off the same root, one's about 10' tall, two are about 3' and the smallest is 1'

Both families turf their kids onto the street in all weathers. Not into their own (large) back gardens. And they never seem to be taken anywhere like the local park. Six weeks of them would have been too much for anyone, let alone the shift workers that live around here.

Gawd help us when they turn into teenagers....

I used to love taking my children out when they were small we used to go to Edinburgh Castle, Stirling Castle among other places as we used to be members of Historic Scotland which we found to be great value for money plus it gave us lots of fun day's out for our children and sometimes we took their friends. I have never understood why some just let the summer holidays go by and not do anything with their children.

They have kids of their own and repeat the cycle of defective parenting and HMG will instruct our teachers to do even more of their upbringing for them. :spin:

Goldfinch babies have fledged this afternoon. Seven hungry beaks now competing for the bird feeders so 5 must have hatched and survived. Not bad going.

Lovely. A few years ago I notice a blackbird nesting in our garden hedge and decided to run a golfball sized CCTV camera to it so we could record and view the footage of the eggs hatching etc. It was fascinating to watch and in the end 4 chicks hatched but sadly they started to disappear. Normally predators like magpies and squirrels would take the whole lot so we knew something odd was happening and after reviewing lots of footage we discovered that a male was taking the nestlings out of the nest and dumping them.

On another occasion I discovered some wrens had nested in the same hedge when I heard the feint call of several young birds coming from it one afternoon. I went to have a look and could hear them but not see anything at first. Then, with my head buried in the thick hedge, I spotted these tiny fledglings amongst all the woody stems and the male adult started creating a right old fuss trying to frighten me away. He was only about the size of my little finger but very feisty!! :)

Ah the male Blackbird might have realised that there was something wrong with those chicks so dumped them to give the healthier ones more of a chance. Less mouths to feed and all that.

The goldies tend to come into the garden in singles or a pair at a time during the nesting season but you get a good flock of them once the last lot of young have hatched. I think there are 3-4 pairs visiting my garden but it's not unusual to see between 10 and 20 at a time after the nesting season has finished. They fight over the sunflower hearts so I've just bought another feeder for them with 4 ports.

Ours will eat pretty much anything you put out though:

LOL

Good news my wee dog has just got a infection thank goodness, so hopefully once his medicine starts to kick in he will be back to his usual self, then back to the vet in a fortnight just for a follow up check up.

I was pleasantly surprised at the bill £74.39 that was for 3 injections, his urine sample checked, course of antibiotics and the consultation. As a family we hate it when our dog is unwell we just knew that something was wrong with him :(

Yep, nature can be very cruel. Thankfully some neighbours have moved recently and we have a few less cats around now. They kill so many birds it's a real shame.

Cats are evil, they just kill stuff for fun, not interested in eating it. They've more than once destroyed birds nests in my garden, smashing the eggs. Plus they crap everywhere. Cats and their absent uncaring owners need culling. Sod hunting foxes, go for hunting cats...
Why won't any political party go for it ?

My little niece has landed a part time job while she studies for her A levels.

Its working in a bakers/cafe and she said I can get cheap sausage rolls :D

Today and tomorrow are training days, and her first day is the 20th, the day after we come back from her holiday.

She'll be on £5.50ph, but will be on £6 quite quickly.

Well my happy thought is tinged with a tiny moan. I was dreading work yesterday as I would have had to be with 2 people who succeed in pushing my buttons quite spectacularly, so I was called in to switch my jobs at short notice. Which I was VERY happy about. The moan is, the manager who took me in the end didn't tell the one I was supposed to be with; so for 2 hours I was down as a no show for work. All sorted now, but I am fully expecting to be called in for a disciplinary with my manager for it.

I'm pleased that he has now finally taken my advice and printed off a sponsor sheet that he has put up in his works canteen as I said not everyone will want to donate online plus his Dad can take this sheet to his work, then all we have to do is put the money in the bank and transfer these donations to his page.

It was good nash although time will tell. I don't know about crystal healing yet but will give it another go, maybe not the two treatments together.

Your question to Crystal healing therapy is this involves placing gemstones on the body to draw out negative energy. Who knows if this works or not but what I can tell you is I felt great afterwards.

What I can say is that I will definitely be going back for reflexology as last night was the best night's sleep I have had in ages slept right through no nightmares something I have been suffering from lately.

Before I went on holiday my nieces girlfriend posted comments on facebook that gave me the opening I wanted to talk to her about her coming out.

I had some good chats with her about it.

She's happy, so I'm happy.

That is all anyone can ask for with someone we care for and love Hom3r and I understand you completely. I love my son's Fiancée so much and I remember a conversation that I had once with a friend in where I said that I class her as my daughter and they said how lovely. Honestly I could not not have picked more lovely girl for my son she really has made my son complete.

My happy thought is wow my Dad has just phoned to keep everyone up to date I have not called him since Monday (it's killed me) but today he phoned and said have you fell out with me and I said of course not then he said you have not phoned and I said neither have you! this answer left him speechless for a few seconds then I broke the silence with anyway Dad I'm taking you shopping this week as far as I'm aware then he said you know I would never fall out with you, you know that and I said well I would not fall out with you then he said if you did that's life and I said really is that your answer and he said what else can I say and I said well if you fell out with me it would leave me totally gutted then he said that would never happen. I know this may seem bad to hear but it felt good when he phoned as he was not his usual cocky self in fact he actually asked about what I have been up to and I just said this and that he said oh this and that and I said yip this and that! Then I could tell now the conversation had ran it's course so rather than wait for the awkward silence I decided to end the call with a polite excuse to by saying Dad I need to go now dinner is ready, speak soon love you bye.

We just managed to enjoy ourselves Jo LOL and of course we also managed some retail therapy so I bought myself a couple of Yankee Candles the scents I bought were lake sunset & sparkling snow and some Lavender bath bombs.

I saw my future daughter in law admire the Ginger & Lime reed diffuser so I was a bit sneaky and bought it for her when she was not looking.

I'm pleased to say she loved it and anyway I have waited a long time to have a daughter to spoil :)

So pleased that weenie had a good time with her future daughter in law, and that dilli had a good weekend away.

Not sure if this should be a happy thought or a moan, for now it is going down as a happy thought. After much debating inside myself, I finally came out to a person at work as being bisexual (something which I have struggled for the last 17 years of my life to accept myself, let alone tell anyone else) and he has been very supportive. Plus, I have never told anyone this but a few years ago I was finally diagnosed formally as being on the very low mild end of the autistic spectrum (cannot process emotions properly, hate changes to routines, etc) and told a manager at work because I was moaning about them changing my schedule around on me last minute again. He also found out about me being bipolar, so I feel a bit better now that I have been open with people about myself.

I wish I could be brave enough to tell my family all this.

You have definitely done the right thing Mark in regards to coming out as my own brother had a inner battle for many years before coming out as most of our family had suspicions for quite a while so it did not really come as a shock to us when he told us.

The only person that was shocked was the baby of the family and he took a while to come to terms with it but has accepted it totally now.

We all deeply love our brother the same as we did before as he is the same brother at the end of the day as all he has is a different sexual orientation which in the old days would have been a crime but thankfully this country is far more accepting of it now.

You must tell your family Mark as the longer one leaves it the harder it is to do so my advice is to tell them as soon as the suitable moment arrives for you.

l am also glad that there was a diagnosis of your autism and bipolar conditions a few years ago s there is nothing worse then not having a named diagnosis for your conditions.

In my opinion someone's sexuality should not be a problem and shouldn’t be seen as such just remember if people see it as a problem then the problem is with them not you. Mark personally I could not give a hoot about someones sexuality, I personally judge a person on what value's they have in life if there nice and kind then I want them in my life if not I now just say bye bye.

What I'm trying to say if someone judges you on just being you then do you really want to know that person but saying that it may come as a shock to some family members then again it may not. My advice on family members is give them time to adjust after all you it has taken you the last 17 years of your life to finally accept yourself. Speaking as a Mother I do not care who my children chose to love or date as long as there happy and treat each other with respect that is what truly matter's to me.

The best advice I can give you Mark is be kind to yourself and take it day by day, remember baby steps Mark. If someone has a problem with you for whatever the reason is then let that be there problem and don't allow it to become yours (taken my own advice here :)) you know my sister has a problem with me and it took me 48 years to walk away from her and I suspect she still has a problem but the main difference now is the problem is hers and it was the best decision I have ever made saying good bye to her negative attitude.

Mark remember when and if you tell your family just do it in your own time and if you need to talk you know what to do.

I'm so proud of you for accepting who you are and all I can say is well done.

Well work was better than I expected, one of my coworkers who knew about me being bi was very supportive to me, told me that now I had finally had the courage to admit to myself my true being i would be a lot happier in life. And it turns out that my manager blocked me on FB because she has an issue with gay people, so her loss. All in all, a good day. And I finally stood up to her and stopped being her doormat.

I'm so glad you've been able to be honest about this. :tu: It will get easier as time goes on. Most people today don't really care about a persons sexuality, they're more interested in the person.

It was much different when I was younger. At least these days if I want to wear pink trainers nobody really looks.:D

One less thing to be careful about will take a load off your mind.

The chances are that your family probably already suspect "something". My mother knew I was probably gay long before I actually told her.

So pleased for you Mark and anyway her loss and tbh do you really want to know someone like that, some one who judges you on your choice of partner. I really do not understand people like her. Really people like her is not worth knowing imo and a true friend accepts you for who you are!

I do think I will keep going every fortnight as part of my self care plan :) and I would recommend reflexology to anyone as honestly I get the best nights sleep ever after I have had a treatment. I don't think I will get the Indian head massage again although it was nice just not for me.
