I went online and chatted to BT yesterday. Basically "Michael" had no time for me as a possible customer and was unwilling to explain the options in any coherent way at all.

Also had to drag the contract and upgrade charges out of him as well as the fact the sport is free for only one year.

Not impressed.

The sport is free always, its the HD that is £3 a year.

I'm sure I read yesterday ASA have received 33 complaints in total from various parties regarding "free BT Sports".

I have the transcription. He said there will be charging for sport after one year free. HD sport was NOT mentioned.

Now he may well be wrong as he was pretty useless, but it is enough for me to rule out BT full stop.

My understanding is that at present you are only guaranteed 1 year free BT sport, and you get free HD if ordered before 1 august (else that is £3).

Nothing has been said about future.

If they charged, I'm not sure what I would do, but would certainly drop BT broadband

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news

It's quite clear in that it says it's free on BT Broadband. But that the HD for £3 is just free if you order before 1st August for the 1st year.

It is clear that they will not charge BT Broadband customers next year. However, they can always increase prices, start charging if they wish to.

However, that is definitely not the policy as it stands. Or if it is, their customer service team will not know that it is.

I was going through Sky Sports channels to see about BT Sports, and came across two channels that l didn't know exist.

I always thought that Sky Sports Extra was part of sports 3, so where did Sports 4 come from.

Bt have always been clear that the free channels would be for the first year - certainly I've always been aware that this is the case.
